Browns trade rumors

Agreed. Their FA strategy seemed to say they were planning for the future by not overspending.

Exactly. And not spending in free agency and then expecting 'instant impact' from your draft is all kinds of stupid.

Again, this team added three first round talents last year - three! Anybody dumb enough to expect it now should tell me all about how those three talents changed this team's fate in 2015.

So Goff at #1 and Wentz at #2? Yeah, "overrated" for sure. "No franchise quarterbacks here folks!" Despite the fact that not one, but two NFL franchises will be giving up two years' worth of draft picks to get 'em...

so your now saying the eagles rams lol are suddenly the brains of the nfl?>???
and even worse the browns dont want one of them,

Just because one franchise or 2 thinks they are great doesnt mean they are.
The opposite is also true, some will think they are not but they might be, you just dont know till
they play awhile.

I wouldn't trust anything coming out right now. This could just be the Browns trying to get other teams to pony up more picks. That's a steep price to pay for Wentz with no major pedigree. I personally think the Eagles are idiots if they do this.....

especially knowing they just signed Bradford for 2yrs 35 mil....now they want give up the farm for Wentz....something doesnt smell right..

Smarter than 'some guy on the Internet' to be sure.

As for the Browns, they arguably have more needs than any team in the NFL. Their holes go well beyond 'a quarterback'. They need picks, and picks, and picks, and picks, and picks. As many as they can get. Credit to them for realizing that fact.

It carries a lot more weight than anything some clown with a keyboard is typing from his Mom's house. Fans can say whatever crap falls out of their empty heads, but the facts of what NFL teams are doing is the only thing that matters.

In all honesty, they don't seem to be planning any farther ahead than that anyway so does it really matter? If they really want to go all in with Romo, then they could do much worse than giving him a three down back that can do it all.

In terms of most first year impact, my vote goes to Elliott.

I don't give a damn about 1st year impact. If whatever player they draft at 4 doesn't give them 2 contracts worth of good or better play it's a failure. I couldn't care less what they are thinking or planning. Never have, never will. I have my own idea of what I would do.

This is not a shot at you or talking down on your opinion. I just really don't care what they are planning because their approach of short term drafting is NEVER going to line up with what I believe is the right approach.

We would have either Ramsey or Tunsil fall in our laps. That could be a stroke of luck. Especially if we can develop another prospect for the next 2 years.

I wouldn't classify us drafting Ramsey as luck. I suppose it is possible he'll be more productive in the NFL than in college, but that's not likely. So we'll probably end up with a great athlete who isn't dominant at either CB or S. Awesome.

No offense taken.

Look at the cap hit they take trading Bradford right now. It's substantial.

I went to overthecap.com and with Bradford the Eagles are $9.9 million under the CAP in 2016 and $5.4 million under the CAP in 2017. If they trade Bradford then the Eagles are $10.8 million under the CAP in 2016 and $27.9 million under the CAP in 2017. Their total CAP hit in a trade would be the $11 million signing bonus Bradford got this year. That is less than what he would count by being on the roster ($12.5 million CAP hit). The rest of his contact is set up in salary, incentives, and a roster bonus in 2017 which the team trading for him would have to take on. The Eagles only get killed by Bradford's contract if they cut him because then the guarantees would hit their CAP instead of the team that traded for him. Bradford's contract is set up where the Eagles can trade him immediately and be OK or cut him after the 2016 season and be OK. The question would be why would any team want to give up high draft compensation for an average QB who is only signed for the next 2 years.

This is great for all the QB's in this draft if Eagles is truly trading up for Wentz. High tide raise all boats.

If we want Lynch now we may need to take him at 4 or risk losing him to SF.

Um. no.
I wouldn't reach out of desperation.

We won't pass on Wentz for either of those guys.

I don't think so either, but I don't think Wentz will be available. Someone will probably trade up to 2 or 3 and take him before we are on the clock. Thats why I said it'll probably be Ramsey or Bosa.

I agree but the scenario being speculated on is the Eagles moving up to 2 to get Zeke(dumb move). I believe the Chargers will take Tunsil and leave Wentz for us to scoop up.

Remember that time the Commanders went to go get RG3.... a qb more highly regarded than Goff and Wentz?

How'd that work out?

Man, I just don't get the Eagles taking a quarterback after giving Sam Bradford $27 million, and Chase Daniel $18 million. Throw in Wentz and you have quite a bit of payroll tied up in a rookie, a back up, and the starter who's never proven anything.

What am I missing?

That's what I think will happen…

Paxton Lynch Will be the happiest dude on the planet if Goff and Wentz go 1–2. Taking into account signing bonus and rookie salary, the difference between the #4 pick and the #15 pick is around $10m. I think he jumps from the midteens to #7 or 8 at the lowest, and as you are saying, he could go as high as #4 to the Cowboys in that situation. If the cowboys are sold on with being "their guy", then their options are pretty limited. Either trade back with San Francisco, or take him at 4.

If we set back and let this happen then Wentz better not be good.

Yup. I think this will be one of those damned if we do, damned if we don't scenario's. Probably be a few years til we know.....
