My expectation will be on par with what I see on the field in the league next year. If it looks like dallas can move past their routinely quick playoff exits ill get excited. Ill not expect them to until i see it. Ill evaluate what I believe to be the reason for failure and move on. I will lose 0 sleep either way. My days of of excitement for this squad left sometime ago. I had a couple of years where I was hyped and thought there was a chance but not routinely.

I am not a super bowl or bust type fan and I dont get all worked up if they dont get there unlike some on this board. They have given me alot to cheer for just not a lombardi. Its not an easy task getting that trophy

The point isn’t that you can easily upgrade the QB position. The point is the separation from Dak Prescott to Brock Purdy or 2022 Geno Smith or even Mac Jones isn’t 40-50m$.

It’s not Dak vs Brock, it’s Dak vs Brock and George Kittle, and Christian Mccaffrey, and Fred Warner, and whatever else that money gets you.

of those, probably 3 are elite. Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers. Although not sure if Rodgers is elite any longer, but for the sake of argument., 3 are on the line, Burrow, Allen, Stafford (he fell off the cliff after his ring). Tannehill and Hurts aren't. Hurts is good, a running threat. Tannehill is average. I mean he won two playoff games throwing for less than 100 yards.

Maybe not Mahomes but how about Burrow or Josh Allen. You have to try to find the next stud QB. You just sit back and draft 6th round projects with very limited potential and your never going to get what you want. Dak did look like complete trash against the 49ers. Anyone that can't see that needs to get their eyes checked.

I don't disagree. you have to. the focus goes on those two and the success with them. but there is 18 others that fail...so its a big gamble. often you have to be in top 10 to have any chance, and then some luck depending on the year and the QBs coming out. some years, its all blank. some years there is a couple. lets not forget there were couple of other QBs taken ahead of Allen, because they were rated better. turbisky was taken ahead of Mahomes as he was a higher rated player.

with that said, in order to find that elite QB, you eithe have to win the lottery by finding outside of first round or else have to suck really bad (or trade a boat load) to get top 5 pick and in case of Cinci, the top pick and have a Burrow come out as opposed to Mayfield. that was the point of the article. its very hard to find that QB...that's why they get over paid and they get over drafted.

btw, Allen is teetering on the verge not being elite. he has a nice little run in the covid year. as not been good in playoffs otherwise.
