Whose to fault for sporano leaving?

Your favorite GM.

Pretty much all of us would take Tony Sporano over Jason Garret. Even the few of us who like garret. Not under any circumstance would I do that.

Most of us would have taken sporano over phillips.

So its odd that your blaming garret for being as you say a putz because sporano left, when in fact sporano left because Jerry didnt recognize his talent as a coach.

So in one breath jerry is a great gm and garret needs to go. And in another garret sucks and shouldnt have been hired and sporano should be the guy, but Jerry wasnt smart enough to see this.

Confusing.
Dude, I criticized Jerry for bringing Garrett here constantly when it happened. The only way we could have kept Sparano, though, is if we'd promoted him instead of Wade in 2007 and that wasn't going to happen for the sole reason we were looking for a defensive guy. And that made complete sense at the time.

But complaining about the coordinator in 2008 wasn't misguided.

Complaining about it in the media is not trying to fix the problem.

Its making excuses for declining production. Its pure CYA.

What is the commone demoninator in all this? T.O. or the coaches? To solve a problem you must eliminate the one dominating problem first then address the others, if others exist.

Wade history of fail as a HC started long before he got here, if you want to get rid of the problem then start at the top

TO complained about Haley because Haley was ragging him for being late to the practice field when he was throwing up. After that went down, Haley started a negative publicity campaign against him in the media. The dude was a weasel (Haley).

TO complained about Garrett because his playcalling his miserable. Well, it was.

Believe me, dude! I would jump for joy if Wade hit the freaking road! But, this is not about Wade at the moment, it's about T.O. and his antics that cause distractions among teammates, coaches and fans!

First things first. Get rid of T.O., then we can work on getting Wade the hell outta here!

So he spoke out all year in '06 or he didn't? Which is it?

I think his point was he didnt complain about or to Sparano because he wasnt the one calling the pas plays. he spent time yelling at the guy who was calling those plays.

Your're getting it, theogt.

LOL one of them led the dolphins to the playoffs one year removed from a 1-15 season. Garrett's track record without him speaks for it self

they didnt look like much a playoff team once they did get there though did they?

in fact other than a far betterQB, they looked very similar to that mediocre team Parcells coached to a 10-6 record in 2003.

Miami will fall back to earth next yr.

If getting rid of TO = coaching change then i'm all for it but getting rid of him just to have a scape goat for the failures of this coaching staff and keeping them makes no sense specially when you take in to account the cap hit as well. TO is not the reason wade is a crap HC, Wade being a crap HC is the main reason this season ended how it ended not TO. This team will be a lot worse without TO if we keep the current coaching staff

I dont know that Sparano was such a hot commodity. Isnt Miami the only team that ever interviewed him for a HC job? (Save us I suppose)Thats not hard to peg as a Parcells thing. Had Parcells not pined for him, he likely would either still be here or be somebody else's offensive asst. Garrett is drumming up alot of interest, 5 teams (6 if you count us) have now interviewed for HC jobs. Two of those teams wanted him and made him offers, a 3rd obviously considered him heavily and may have offered him the position.

I don't think you can hardly judge any coach when TO is in his locker room.

Sparano didnt call the passing plays, Haley did. Sparano called running plays.

Give me a break. A coach doesn't have anything better to do than wage a "negative publicity campaign" against his owners star player?

This is apologism run wild.

TO has been late and slept through meetings in every organization he has been in, by his own admission. Haley refused to put up with it (what's this called? um... accountability?) so he got run out by the owner. Good for Haley cause now he is going to a Super Bowl and deservedly so.

TO complained about Garrett because his playcalling his miserable. Well, it was.

Complaining to the media does not fix that problem. Usually it makes things worse. However it does let everyone know that everything in the world is not TO's fault.

No, Sparano called all the plays.

then just look at what he did in Denver and Buffalo, it's shockingly similar to what has happened here and that was without TO

thats not true, He was and is a highly thought of coach.

the thing he suffered from that year was Who was to get the credit in 07? Sporano got demoted after getting an interview for head coach, that is odd if not bizzare.

When parcells left he thought either gibbs or sporano would be the next coach. I am pretty confident sporano would have recieved interviews had his situation been different and everyone knew where he was going.

dbair1967;2589357 said:
Not the whole time he didnt, Parcells even said so himself.
In 2006 it was just Sparano. In 2005 it was some weird combination and I don't think anyone really knows what happened.

But, no, in 2006 it was all Sparano.
