Examples?

Read every Carp is a bust thread...read who is defending Burnett in this one, see any connection?

It's against forum rules to make threads naming names by the way.

Once again it's pretty simple...if you call one a bust and defend the other you are being hypocritical.

Where did I say Parcells went against the scouts?

Just saying that Carpenter was the big-bodied LB that Parcells liked. Burnett wasn't.

And was the fact that Carpenter's dad played for Parcells (and they joked about how Rob would have a LB son for him) the only reason they picked him? Of course not. But did it hurt? I doubt it. Parcells talked several times about knowing Bobby would be raised the right way, etc.

Never said you did, you said you were playing devil's advocate and supplying a reason for why some target Carpenter...so I replied to that reasoning.

I don't get any of you. I think that Burnett in his 3rd season is finally in a system which really suits him. I also like Wade's system suits Ware & a bunch others on this team. I also think that Carpenter in his 2nd year is also beginning to produce. I'd like to know where in the draft value guide it states that a #1 or #2 picks must start immediately or during the season or they are a bust. According to a few of you, we can just get these backups in late rounds or off the street. In that case, can't wait to see what happens if our starters go down and we have to go with the likes of Obamese or whoever hangs around walking the streets outside of VR. Based on some of your comments, there shouldn't be any drop off at all in play when that happens. Some of you need to get real.

When we were going 5-11, we should expect that our top 2 picks start. But as we begin to improve, that begins to happen less and less. I got a great idea. Why don't we just cut Burnett & Carpenter and save all that cap money and sign some undrafted rookies cause they just as good. Next time I'm not going to post anything when I see certain topics. Next time I'm putting you on ignore.

I'll explain it to you...the thread is to show how silly the Carp is a bust threads are. Notice the ? in the title? Notice the last line in post #1?

This whole thread is quite amusing. I think, Mr. Zebra, that your point has been made. :laugh2:

I see maybe one or two posters that qualify. It's hardly enough to start a thread about the large amount of hypocrisy.

Sooner or later the rest of us will figure out what the point is, and who it's directed towards.

Burnett got drafted by the wrong team, IMO. The guy would be a stellar strong side 4-3 LB.

I think weak side myself. The Burnett pick always confused me. It would have been like Dallas taking Chad Greenway or Thomas Howard. Just didn't make sense for what Parcells was trying to do.

I do think he originally envisioned Burnett inside. He mentioned him being a bubble player after the draft as I recall. He also frequently mentioned Burnett's issues maintaining weight...which is why I think he was the back up on the weak side and a nickel backer.

As far as the Carpenter pick, we all should have seen it coming from a mile away. Huge hole at OLB. Pick a guy who has size and speed and had played with his hand on the ground in college. Happens to be the son of a former player and be represented by Sexton. No brainer.

I do love the Marcus McNeil comparisons though. "He's a Pro Bowler!". Yes and the team passed on him twice, the second time to trade down. Compare him with Fasano....that's where the value would have been, but obviously the team saw something they didn't like. If Carp hadn't been taken by Dallas, I suspect he would have ended up in SF or NE.

While I don't disagree, it's still just speculation...and who's to say the same isn't true for Carpenter?

I understand why BZ started this thread. Sometimes I think people care more about who was drafting who where and what they do now, than whether or not the team actually wins. People that care more for the latter probably like Carpenter's ability and versatility and couldn't care less where he was picked.

Look at some of the comments...I was wanting so and so...and it's telling.

Many posters get so attached to their opinion of who they wanted us to draft, that they take it personally that Dallas didn't draft their guy, and look for any reason to attack who we did take.

It makes them feel justified about their opinion...they are looking to be right, and what's best for the team is secondary to that.;)

 I wanted to draft Shawn Andrews and sign Duce Staley.

currently, he is a bust. but that doesn't mean he isn't contributing.

Just watched the replay of the Dallas-Broncos game. He was always around the play.... making tackles

So BZ - you are saying Carpenter and Burnett are both busts?

Nope, I'm saying neither are.

What I see is 2 players that both were drafted relatively high...both had expectations to contribute right away...both got hurt early in their first TC...both changed positions...both were new to the 3-4...both are back ups, nickel LBs and ST players...yet only Carpenter gets called a bust.

I find it laughable.
