I too wish they would put Jones in one spot and let him learn it well. It is not really fair to him or the team to keep moving him around. So what if he can maintain a good learning attitude- it is not helping him develop into a starting ANYTHING right now.

Sorry but you committed the two said fallacies and carried the weight of their implications throughout your exchanges, read your own poor material.

This faulty reasoning you talk about is all in your head. I've made myself perfectly clear as I always do to stay one step ahead of the agenda crowd and I'm way ahead of you.

He apparently does not understand the implications of his own line of thinking, he has done the same thing to me in this thread.

So explain to me the implications of my own line of thinking?

People think if a first round pick isn't Revis or Haden then he's a bust. Ridiculous.

Additionally, anyone attempting to gauge the success of a pick in the preseason of his rookie year is, unequivocally, an idiot.

And that's real.

Well, there's a lot more to figure out at safety. I think that will ultimately be his position, but it's really easier to start out at corner. I think he'll start out, though, playing more safety if Claiborne and Patmon prove they can hold down their positions.

And once we actually start game-planning and watching film on opponents, I think he'll be better-suited to execute what he sees on the film. It's a bit different going up against a scheme you haven't really spent time studying.

I think people are jumping the gun on concern because of that.

He just looks more comfortable as a corner. More natural. His stance, everything.

He's also good in man coverage. Would prefer to have him there. But everyone wants an Earl Thomas. So okay.

Your two logical fallacies have been listed and explained already.

You haven't explained anything you just keep rambling to keep this going. There's no fallacy in my line of thinking it's your interpretation that's at fault.

The jury is still out on Jones and will be for awhile but if he's going to be a "solid player" we have to see some signs of that this season. With him being a first round pick if he can't crack the starting lineup at some point this season either at corner or safety it's going to leave some doubts about him after the season. Most of the top picks for the Cowboys who turned into real solid players showed great promise as rookies. They all had some growing pains but after their rookie year we all knew we got ourselves a real good player. It's always a little concerning when your top pick isn't looking very good early on or is coming along slow. Most of the Cowboys top picks that haven't looked very good early on never ended up being very good at least not during the Jerry Jones era.

Again, I'm not saying Jones is going to end up like those players but he's going to have to make some plays this season looking the part of a top pick or he may not be as good a player as we were hoping for. If we're having this same discussion about him next summer where he's still not looking very good then he's not going to be in the mold of players like Ware, Dez, Lee, Tyron, Frederick and Martin who from day one left no doubt we got a hit. It's still real early with Jones but with the opportunity he has with Scandrick out and the ability to play corner and safety I'm expecting some first round caliber plays from him this season if he's going to be the player we were hoping for.

I'd disagree.

Jenkins wasn't a starter in 2008, had a decent year in 2009 when he made the pro-bowl as the 2nd injury alternate, and he totally blew in 2010 and he was effectively done by then.

1 decent year.

Could have been worse I guess, however, overall I'd rank him as a disappointment (not bust).

i see where you are coming from but he's still in the league after 8 years getting good playing time.

Incorrect, you have literally committed 2 logical fallacies and still fail to understand how you have arrived at such conclusions.

Disclaimer: I watched the game off and on, haven't rewatched it, and I wasn't necessarily focused in solely on him.

I don't know if it was just me, but I felt like he looked, well, crappy and lost out there.

I know he's a rookie, and -as I am typically an optimist- I think he'll learn from his mistakes. I do think the proverbial brakes need to be pumped on him a bit though.

From what I saw of him tonight in his extended playtime, he's not close to being ready to be a starter.

A lot of this could have to do with the fact that most of the guys surrounding him are going to be cut this week, so maybe he just looked bad because of the lack of talent around him. He was playing mostly safety, so maybe he was cleaning up other guys' mistakes. I don't know.

I do know that he is very intelligent and athletic, so I trust he'll learn from his mistakes, and have the ability to correct them.

What did you guys think of him tonight?

I've said this since he was drafted, you can google it. He doesn't play well in space, and is grabby. His technique is poor. I don't know why draft profiles said he was physical. He rarely got physical in press coverage. He just lines up, grabs the WR, and goes along for the ride.

I haven't committed any fallacies you're failing to comprehend the points I'm making. What conclusions do you think I've arrived at based on my comments?
