I think the staff will be careful not to overuse him early-on and increase his workload as his experience dictates.

Wow. This post was like a cool ocean breeze on my face: nice and refreshing.

Maybe people will stop roasting Claiborne now as it shows this position isn't that easy to play in the NFL. Make him a safety or make him a corner. You can't have this guy jumping positions unless you want a wasted pick. There's simply too much to learn and your reflexes need to adjust to one or the other position.

People will stop roasting Claiborne when he actually does something. We are years down the road with him and he has been nothing but a bust. He is a nice guy and I want nothing but for him to be good but man he has been a massive bust.

Yes I am. In todays NFL as a number #1 draft pick.. you need to step in and immediately and be able to make some sort of impact if you are healthy. Not make an impact in 2 or 3 years down the road. Rookies will make mistakes... we all know that, but looking clueless out there against back up scrub players makes me feel uneasy about him. I don't care if he is smart, athletic or can set world records in how high he can jump, all I care about is if he can play football. So far, he has only looked bad.

Just curious, who should the Cowboys have taken?

Pack up your things, folks. We can't have opinions, can't discuss what we believe to bad/good picks. We're not the staff, must assume every pick is a good pick.

And I like on your list you leave off the Claiborne pick. Which is probably the most appropriate comparison.

Discussing a players future before he ever plays a real game, when you have never seen a single practice is not an opinion, it's a guess
have your opinion but when you express it don't get your panties in a wad if someone questions it
Time will tell if it was a good pick
As for Mo he actually hasn't played bad when healthy, he just hasn't been healthy

I'm getting tired of the "workout warrior" bull poopy mantra people are talking about.

Is/was Jones a workout warrior? Yes. And he was like, idk, a great player, too.

He's a workout warrior with instincts, ability, and a love and feel for the game.

Byron "WW" Jones allowed a 23.6 total QBR to QBs throwing his direction. That just screams workout warrior!

Technically, Ware was kind of a workout warrior too. He was all conference but at a small school and was pegged as a 2nd round guy possibly because he was an undersized DE. Then goes to the combine and at like 260 pounds ran a 4.56 and broad jumped over 10 feet with a 38.5 vertical.

There's enough articles out there on practices for us to get a good enough indication on players. Now, if the practices translate to the games is another story.

From what has been said, Jones has looked good in TC. Preseason? Some good, some bad. However, it's a valid criticism to say he looked lost and confused last night. Looks like he's been taking some tips from Scandrick and Carr with locating the ball.

Mo had a decent rookie season, a terrible sophomore year, and lost a spot to Scandrick last year before injury. He's been quite bad since his rookie year. Take in the mention of his confidence issue and the fit he took over losing his spot to Scandrick, and I can't say this guy has been anything more than below average-average.

Hated this pick from day one.

I wasn't happy about that pick myself. I remember some posters were upset with me about expressing my feelings.

Our team still shows some weaknesses in drafting players to high or over emphasizing cornerback over Dline or drafting a reach at OT over a QB. Dallas had an opportunity to draft a good DT and they didn't.

Good cornerbacks can be had in later rounds. Case in point - Sherman and Scandrick.

Shows people were going overboard on how much Claiborne sucks. Jones looks like he needs to be developed, and the coaches need to pick whether he's going to be a CB or a safety and do it fast. The guy isn't so immensely talented that he can play both positions with ease. Pick one and let him learn the game at this level.

As I look at at the young talent we have and the likelihood of them really solidifying their positions over the next 3-5 years, it will be increasingly difficult for any rookie to make this team, let alone start. By next year our OL will be all-world, and the DL may not be too far behind. We still have a few holes, but the squad is definitely shaping up, including WR's and DB's. Who would have thought that we could lose O-Scan, and not be screwed?

And the thought that we have too many talented young guys on the DL to keep them all -- that's just a stunning turn of events.

It's a good problem to have when a first or second round pick has to learn as a backup.

Here is a list of top CBs in no order. I am sure I am missing some others.

Peterson - 1st round
Revis - 1st round
Harris - UDFA
Sherman - 5th round
Davis - 1st round
Haden - 1st round
Talib - 1st round
Grimes - UDFA
Smith - 1st round

So technically, yes, you can get a good CB later in the draft but a big chunk of the league's best CBs come from high round picks.

Here is the big question:

Would you trade him for Tevin Coleman straight up?

I know it's crazy talk , but what about Dunbar for Tevin Coleman? I know we should be able to get Coleman + a first Rd pick for Dunbar, but maybe if it it's obvious you were fleeced they'd jump on it

Dude hasn't suited up in a regular season game, and he's been written off. LOL

I thought he played well last night. The TD pass was a perfect ball. That would have beaten anybody on the roster.
