I remember many in here thought that ReShard Lee had a chance to be our starting RB for years to come.

:laugh2:

Nope i thought he would be a good backup rb to spell JJ and be solid depth plus he was doing well at kickoff returns with some big ones. I thought he was better than old man Eddie george who blew a lot o blocking assignments

Ditto.

As for the initial question. No. But he has a chance to possibly make the team. I think that depends on what he does on STs, how many FBs make the team including Bickerstaff, injuries, and the butterfly effect as well as other positions on the club influencing the RB story.

Would anyone be surprised if Tyson Thompson was the starting RB for the Cowboys in '05?

I would be surprised, but it would all depend on the scenario to know if this would be a good thing.

scenario 1: Tyson Thompson wows Parcells with his brilliance and skills, becoming the ultimate diamond in the rough. The guys is so skilled that he is a home run threat to break a 50+ yarder every time he touches the ball, and defenses must configure their game plan specifically for him. Parcells has no choice but to start the future hall of famer.

This would be good.
Chances of this happening: 1:1,000,000

scenario 2: Julius Jones suffers an injury( God forbid, but for the sake of me being a homer, it was only a minor injury that sidelines JJ for 2 weeks) and the A-train stinks it up to the point that he is yanked like George was last year. Barber has a problem holding on to the ball and gets pulled, leaving Thompson as the only reliable ball carrier until JJ heals.
This would be very bad.
Chances of this happening: 1:100,000

scenario 3: It is the first preseason game, and Parcells decides to sit out JJ and Thomas for precautionary reasons. As the game starts, Barber cannot locate his left shoe and must return to the locker room, thus making Thompson the starting RB.
This would be pretty embarrassing. and bad.
Chances of this happening: 1:1,000

I know it’s still early in TC and he (Thompson) still has to make the team but from every report and eyewitness observations it seems as though he can not only compete at this level but also excel.

I'm sure most would agree that unlike other skill positions, running back isn't a position that you "groom" someone for, either you have it or don't. Historically the leagues best RB's, Payton, Dickerson, Brown, Smith, and Sanders where good to go from the beginning.

I just logged on and read your initial post after seeing your thread, so please forgive me if this has already been asked.... Are you High?

Saladan, you related to the guy that posted the other day about trading Roy for the pick to get leinhart? To say that is a stupid question would be an understatement.

If Thompson beats out JJ, we are in more trouble than anyone ever dreamed......
Actually if Thompson beats out JJ, then we have a for sure Hall Of Famer on our team, because I think JJ is darn good, so TT would have to be unstoppable and that's a good thing. *but I doubt it*:)

Priest Holmes went undrafted.

Tyson was a huge national high school recruit, and low-and-behold he shows up in the pros bigger and faster than any RB on our team.

I don't think he will replace JJ, but I hope he passes A-Train and Barber. I'm positive he's better than Barber now - nothing against Barber.

Ever heard of Justin Fargas RB Oakland, Quentin Griffith RB Denver, Tony Hollings RB for the Texans of DeShaun Foster RB for the Panthers?

Most of the RBs drafted like Ontario and Bennett keep comming up lame.

Not sure this guy has the heart because he is going to take a beating in this league, can he last through the pre-season? Hope so but the prior mentioned players have gone out shortly after showing up big.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the rep on Tyson Thompson comming out of College was not being durable enough to carry the team, ie a full time back.

He's bigger than Anthony Thomas?

You're positive a so-so back from a small college is better than a 1200 yard rusher from the Big 10? This thread - and forum - has slipped into the abyss.....It's unlikely he makes the roster.

your positive he's better than Barber because he's doin better in training camp?

I'd like to see Thompson do some things in pre-season before I annoint him the 2nd coming of Moses.

TT passing JJ on the depth chart? Now wasn't JJ supposed to be "the great Julius Jones" already? :p: So what's greater than great?
