Can we really cheer for a high draft pick?

What's so hard about rooting for a higher draft pick? If you understand the game at all you know why it's so much more important than a win in a wasted season.

I don't struggle with it.

You're such a hater
Next you're gonna say that we need to continue building the trenches or not take CBs high when we all know the CBs win championships

Me neither.
I don't see the point of making Playoffs only to be bounced immediately by a superior team.

Ideally I want to do this once (suck or tank..whatever you want to call this) and pick our QB of the future (hopefully). Allow the QB to sit and develop behind Romo and play in relief if Romo gets hurt. We don't need another post Aikman era with no QB's for a decade.

Hmm wait he wasn't a top 5 pick .. He was way down at 24...?
Kinda defies some folks logic of guaranteed top 5 picks = franchise

Thx Stash !!!

No use arguing with the others

Agree to disagree with those who root for losing out to get better

We might and probably will anyways .. So the point is moot... But I won't be cheering it on ...

I don't think anyone is "cheering it on" but in the overall scheme of things, quite possibly the best thing they can do is lose.

If they do, they will have a better draft pick in every round, and either a better position to obtain higher quality talent, or the commodity of a higher draft pick to trade for more picks.

Conversely, winning a few, meaningless games only serves to damage that draft position with no tangible gains.

In fact, it might convince people to maintain the status quo, and in no way is that a good thing.

First, it is a sorry state of affairs that we have our season over unless a statistical miracle happens, and it's only November, as some have pointed out. But I can't hope that we lose out just to get a draft pick. We play the Commanders twice, and I've never been one to hope for a double Commanders loss in a season.

If it happens, I'll try to forget it as quickly as possible, I'd at least be ok with it because I know it means we can add the fifth Pro Bowl lineman to the O-line.

Great now, I'm starting to feel sick because I said I'd be ok with losing out. This absolutely stinks! The NFC East has been a great help in getting us to the playoffs so far, not so much helpful when it comes to getting a draft pick.

Nothing is right about this year, when Blandino is fired, Dallas comes through the next draft with ANOTHER three first round talents somehow, this whole season will be a faded memory. Next season will be overloaded with talent, it has to be even more lopsided than this year would have been.

Whaddayathink?

I dont cheer, I laugh. I laugh at the ineptitude, I laugh at Jerry Jones cringing in the box, and I laugh at Clappy the Clown looking like a fish out of water. For the simple fact that its more fun then crying. This regime deserves all the hate and losing that it is getting right now. And plenty more to come if they don't change their pathetic ways.

At this stage I really would love to be able to like another team but I simply cant. We are just pathetic. I cant stand this team for the most part. I dont like Jerry, Hate Clappy the clown, hate players like McChicken, Dez, and the Kraken. This team is led by a bunch of fools. And our only hope is now aging and too brittle in Romo. His poor career wasted by Jerry Jones and his loser coaches Wade and Clappy.

And this is a bad draft for QB's. And we all know Jerry is just going to sign a veteran after Romo anyway. This mess will go on for decades.

The term Americas team should be stripped. They dont deserve to be called anything close to Americas team. They are the laughing stock of the NFL.

I can't cheer for it as I will always want them to win. I might not get as mad as I usually do when they are choking and Captain Clap keeps clapping, but I would still prefer they finish 8-8 than 3-13.

To think this Cowboys team could end up with fewer wins then any of the Campo coached teams is mind blowing especially after coming off a 12-4 season last year. Even without Romo this team is so much more talented than Campo's teams. Despite the injuries there's no excuse for a season like this.

And keep in mind this isn't just about the 1st round.

This is about getting that 1st-rounder at the beginning of the 2nd round who slipped through the first round.

If they slipped thru the first, they could fall a few more spots.

No need to overthink it or oversell it. It is all still a crapshoot.

Sure it's a crapshoot, but picking earlier is better... Being first in line at the buffet means you aren't having to touch implements the snot-nose kid behind you is going to bogart-up. ;)

Here's something to think about. The talent than can be acquired in pick 1-5 is ridiculously disproportionate to what the lower rounds have a chance at. With the rookie spending cap, it is too beneficial to pass up. looking at this chart, you can see the difference in selecting a quality player,

But after 30 people have been thru 31 isn't much better than 35.

My point is people get too hung up on someone else's opinion when it comes to the draft.

When I draft for fantasy or mock drafts I pick players that I really want. I don't take the 10th best RB instead of the best QB just because that is how someone thinks it might go. I would rather draft everyone a round early and get who I want and it almost always works out better that way.

Value and perception come into play when making trades but it is still up to you to decide if it is worth it or not.

So in general yes, it is better to have higher picks but it is not as crucial as making the right picks. I would rather keep fighting for the playoffs than hope Goff is the next Rodgers and I can get him at 2 or 3 by losing every week.

Then you are first in line for food poisoning ... Woo hoo

I'm really frustrated with this team. If losing out means better picks and perhaps better coaching I will root to lose all day, every day and twice on Sundays...except for when we play division opponents. Hate the eags, Gboys and foreskins.
