Can we really cheer for a high draft pick?

But doesn't Jones still own the team? You are basing your logic on that the Jones would make a good top 5 pick ? The same guy that traded up to 6 for Mo ..
RS ... I get it .. No need to go and pop your eyes out to defend your logic .. I just am stating that it's plausible we get a top draft pick.. Pick a CB or TE with it and don't improve at all... Plus you have a team that ended the season with no positive energy at all ... With a bleak outlook ... Losers who lose start believing they can't win... They just wait and see how they will lose .. Are you confident in this coaching staff (who most likely isn't going anywhere) that they can coach up a team who lost their last 6 games and a total of 13 all season to start believing they can win ?

No, I'm basing it on the logic that I want the best talent still on the board when the Cowboys pick rather than seeing other teams get first crack at them.

I'm not exactly curing cancer here. You should be able to follow this.

Perenially great teams have the best coaches in the league, so they can maximize whatever talent they draft. Garrett simply isn't a Bellichick. Our offense is predicated on our players beating other players. If we want to win with that kind of offense, we have to get the best players available.

Correct. So in that regard, you have to adjust the thinking. It's one of the reasons I consider a top WR also. If we cannot coach or scheme them up, just have to have steak on every plate.

A pick in the top three almost guarantees a shot at a top QB. The only concern I have is the organizational willingness to draft one.

Tanking is not a pleasant concept. But if it happens and they take a CB, oh boy.

The FO is still delusional. They still think Romo has at least 5 more more years. If we don't draft a QB and Romo breaks down again next year a really big oh boy.

Yes, easily. And it's so close you can almost taste it.

And did you see the latest mock draft....they have the boys picking a OT .....really? I see LB, CB, DL....this organization believes Tony has three good years left and will not draft a QB with their first pick....put that in the archives to dig up for later.

I'll cheer my Cowboys as I always do.

I'm not one of those who sits around hoping for losses, even if that makes sense to the situation. I love watching Dallas win. That's all that is important to me.

The season is already lost, we won't win out. Cassell isn't turning into Brady and Dez is still hobbled. That isn't a recipe for winning out.

Losing 8 of 11

No Romo

What can we do?

2 more wins is the most we are getting... And that is not a sure bet.

Only God himself can QB this team to a miracle run the table and win super bowl..... Well... Him and Jeff hostetler..... Lmao

Not rooting for losses.... Whatever happens... Happens!

No, it is four or five years.

No question. Jones has said it. Garrett has said it.

Romo has four or five years, guys. It is not a damn debate.

Thats your opinion. Mine is that Goff has franchise QB potential and I would take him without hesitation.

Oh I agree it is my opinion, hope to be proven wrong if we draft one of the following, Connor Cook, Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch because of fan/media pressure. At this point in time the landscape of talent for QB is not where I would hope, especially when the boys are at the bottom of the league and clearly on a path to top 5 in the draft.

Agreed. I have no delusions of them doing anything other than losing. But it's not going to change what I do as a fan.

In the first, I question it. It would have to be a no brainer, we pick in the top two or three.

Anywhere else, the chances decrease exponentially. And if Manziel or Griffin become available before April, absolutely not.

That's my biggest fear is that Jerry is going to pick up one of these guys as his response to in case Romo goes down...ugh.

Pretty hard to actively cheer for a loss. Still will watch, still will cheer for good things, boo and lament the bad. But each loss certainly won't sting anymore and even failure will probably just get a soft chuckle and a shake of the head versus getting angry.

I wish they wouldn't look at it that way. As if you're arrogant enough to believe you'll find the hardest player in all of sports to find and find him on your schedule. I'd rather they had the thinking of okay, we had a really disastrous season. We didn't expect to be picking at the top of the draft but here we are. Our scouts are telling us there's a player there with a franchise QB type of grade. Let's take advantage of this situation and get that type of player in here now rather than hoping we have this same opportunity later when we have no QB worth anything on the roster. We'll figure out where he fits with Romo later. The opportunity to bridge seamlessly from one QB to the next has presented itself and we're not going to pass on it.

I would salute this kind of forward thinking from the front office.

Don't hold your breath.

If we end up at like #6 or #7, what do y'all think of trading down, and picking up an extra 2nd (assuming all the QB's are off the board)?

It's unlikely that any QBs will be off the board...maybe 1.
This is not a good year for super star QB's.

Dallas will NOT select a QB in the top 5 picks....Period....maybe later in round 1 or in round 2.
