I thought Jerry had seen the light on Dak after last years debacle and yet here we are. The only short glimmer was the Trey Lance trade.. but they fact that we didn't give Trey a snap (by putting Rush on IR etc) is telling. Dak has never had a true replacement.. this organisation had delibrately engineered situations so Dak does not have to face any competition both from within or without.

I think they will extend him.. and we will watching another crop of all pros walk away without any success. It is maddening.

The only hope I have left is that maybe.. just maybe Jerry will get sick of being laughed at and decide to do something about it.

What are you saying is bs? I’m saying Dak could ok a trade and be sent away. No way should we keep him. He’s proven who he is, and there is no way we win with him.
I was responding to your comment about Dak could go 17-0 and still getting no love. If he was a winner, he would be loved. He’s just not a winner. He’s a stat collector.

lol, ok bruh

Only great players like Deshaun Watson get hauls, right? lol
This is where we agree. The cowboys absolutely can get picks for Dak.

If the picks offered are good enough then it’s even possible to eat his whole cap right away. They won’t have space for anything in Free agency. But you got picks to upgrade the team.

Don't tell the NFC East that.

Commanders would scoop him up in a second and own us for the foreseeable future.

Maybe extend and trade
There isn’t a team in the league that would take him and his cap hit on. It’s the same story different day. Would any other team on earth take radio and pay that salary? No. It’s not because he’s not a good dude, he’s just not a good qb.

Not true. Bring somebody in that can teach him how to read coverage better. Or someone who can scheme better. Dak tore the league up this season until he faced better coaches then ours. These guys game planned Dallas on offense and defense so Dak wasn't the only one looking sad in these occasions. It's all about coaching. GB coach had a great plan for us on offense and for our defense. Our coaches couldn't counter it- on either side of the ball. We need better coaches -period! A different qb isn't going to do anything to move the needle.
He’s in his 8th season. He’s as good as he’s going to get and it’s not nearly good enough.

LOL some of these posters. Yea, let's take a 60 million hit and get nothing for a good QB.
What are you trying to say? Keep going with Dak? And if so, why??

Why do you people keep wanting to believe in something that isn’t there!

I meant he’d get no love until he won in the playoffs. It would be a season full of “it doesn’t matter” despite a historic season. That won’t be fun.

Who cares if that happens. Btw the commanders are taking a QB at pick 2.

All,

It's not that bad to move on from Dak in 2024. The cap hit is much better than I expected as long as we do it post June1st.
In 2024, the Dead Cap would be $ 25 million and the cap savings would be 34 Million.
In 2025 we would still owe 25 million in Dead cap and 11 million in cap savings.

Cutting him before June 1st would be devastating as all 64 Million would hit the cap this year.

This is the perfect time to move on. Get off of Dak and McCarthy. You have not and will not win with them
Can you say POST June 1st cut?
Say it, learn it, and soon to live it.
There's a reason we gave a 4th rounder for Trey as this was seen coming down the pike a long time ago from the Jones boys no matter what they stated to the press.

Definitely not assuming this. There is still a lot of talent for whoever the QB is to work with. Rookie or inexperienced Qbs are a lot more quick learners in this era of the NFL.
Agreed, there are options out there we just have to look. Did anyone think Baker would make the divisional round earring 4 million this year?

It’s a no brainer we save 34 million in cap space, go sign a veteran, draft a guy and add some free agents along with Vrabel we will be competing for the division again next year.
