And don't forget they carried over around 20 million in cap and the cap will be increasing so there is no Dak lockdown just myths from those pesky Dak lovers.
If the Broncos can cut ties with Wilson trust me we can do it with Prescotto.

Who would trade for Dak? The guy has had offensive pieces around him and a descent D and can’t get it done. Many other QB’s in this league don’t have the weapons Dak has and have been descent.

If we are moving on from Dak we likely aren't making the playoffs this coming season so just take the full hit then (assuming we even can). Then be free and clear afterwards.
I would rather not make the playoffs than lose in the first round.

So here is the problem with this idea that we can make him a post-June 1 cut. The problem is they have to sit with his $59 million CAP hit until June 1. They are $21 million over the CAP as we speak. So they get no benefit from cutting Dak until June 1. That means they have no money to sign any of their own free agents, or free agents from any other teams because the free agent signing periods comes before June 1. It means they have to shed CAP dollars from somewhere by restructuring other players contracts or extending some aging players. The second half of the CAP hit comes in 2025 as they have to eat $32 million more in dead money.

Can this be done. Sure, but not without drastically effecting the roster. So not only will they lose good players to free agency, they won't have a QB either. So if you are CeeDee or Micah - or even Ferguson, and you see this, do you want to stay in Dallas when your time is up? Or would you move on to a team with less roster turmoil and a chance to win with a good QB?

All,

It's not that bad to move on from Dak in 2024. The cap hit is much better than I expected as long as we do it post June1st.
In 2024, the Dead Cap would be $ 25 million and the cap savings would be 34 Million.
In 2025 we would still owe 25 million in Dead cap and 11 million in cap savings.

Cutting him before June 1st would be devastating as all 64 Million would hit the cap this year.

This is the perfect time to move on. Get off of Dak and McCarthy. You have not and will not win with them
If the broncos can do it with a SB winner then the boys should have no problem with Dak.

Another Don't cut Dak scare post.
Common man stating we won't be able to sign our FA or lose players because we have to wait till June 1st is a stretch, to say the least here...............BIG TIME!
The funny thing is when he becomes a post-June 1st cut most teams will have their QB 1 position pretty much set.

Not true. Bring somebody in that can teach him how to read coverage better. Or someone who can scheme better. Dak tore the league up this season until he faced better coaches then ours. These guys game planned Dallas on offense and defense so Dak wasn't the only one looking sad in these occasions. It's all about coaching. GB coach had a great plan for us on offense and for our defense. Our coaches couldn't counter it- on either side of the ball. We need better coaches -period! A different qb isn't going to do anything to move the needle.

“Tore the league up”.. they were awful to start the season and couldn’t put the ball in the red zone and they lost against the Cardinals. They adjusted after the 49ers game by force feeding CeeDee and telling Dak to run more, while taking more deep shots. Teams adjusted and he sucked, the offense eas awful against the Lions, Miami and Bills with the except lion against the woeful Commanders who couldn’t cover CeeDee Lamb in man.

Very simple, just tell his agent he is gonna be a June 1st cut or he agrees to be traded. JJ the "tough-negotiator" becomes so gutless over the years.

Assuming a trade won't work with Dak and they move on from him:
  • Trade Parsons
  • Trade Lamb
  • Draft a ready to go RB
  • Rush and Lance compete for the starting job (have to extend Lance).
  • Start retooling the OL and rebuilding the DL
  • Emphasis on running and stopping the run
  • Need to get better at LB and S
2024 will be a step back year which could mean a wild card berth.

Jerry will not release a 30 year old QB that put MVP Numbers in the regular season.

Jerry will still hope that he will break the curse that he has come playoff time and thinks he has a higher chance of winning with Dak the next few years than with a rookie QB or Trey Lance.

Jerry is 81. He has no time for a full rebuild that would be needed if you make these drastic changes. So it will be more of the same as long as Jerry lives. Outcome should be clear.

He can ok a trade. There’s no doubt his time in Dallas won’t be fun next year. He could go 17-0 with 75 TDs and no picks and he’s still get no love. I think Dak would ok a trade.
I disagree. There is no incentive for him to waive his no clause unless its to a good team which means we won't get good compensation but aye i'll take anything as opposed to cutting him outright.

I think this is what you do if you trade Dak. Complete rebuild. Trade Lamb and Parsons and start over. See what you can get for Zack Martin too...pretty much anyone with value over 30.

I wouldn't cut Dak but I would trade him to say Atlanta who is in desperate need of a QB. Could trade him for picks and designate as a post June 1st trade along with Gallup.

Like it or not Dak is considered a top 7 QB. Atlanta would have him with a reasonable 26 million salary for 2024 and could extend him and they would. They probably hire Belichick and with the guys they have at skill position would be the favorite in the NFC South.

We should get the picks #8 and #43, #79 and 3rd in 2025 for Dak, Gallup and #56. We ride with Trey Lance as QB, hire Mike Vrabel as HC.

Vrabel will make sure we have a good run defense with getting the right guys in the middle, something that Jerry has refused to do.

At #8, we draft a LT, the get a CB, OC, and whatever Vrabel wants. Sign a monster DT in free agency like Madubuike and a CB like Jaylon Johnson. Then let's see what we can do.

Remember our losses this year were teams that ran down our throats. And the teams still in it have good run games with mauler OL.

So make the playoffs then have Dak choke again. I rather they move on, and build long term than another one and done.
What is worse, extend Dak for 4 years. Then we have 5 years of one and done. But hey, we matter in the regular season.

I used to think, yeah, we are winning, we got a chance at the division. Winning is great. And I am sure I will still be that way once again. But this is just not cutting it the way it is currently going.

Make the changes now.

LOL some of these posters. Yea, let's take a 60 million hit and get nothing for a good QB.
It’s embarrassing how football stupid some of y’all are. Just parroting whatever sounds good without doing a lick of investigating if doing so will make you sound stupid smh. There is a thread that literally tells you it won’t be as bad as you make it seem. Oh I forgot you’re in it still posting stupidity again smh.

What are you talking about? How long did it take Jimmy to rebuild from Zero to contenders?
Houston was in the dumps last year, GB was supposed to win 6 games this year. We are not that far off, there will be QB’s available. This team needs a great coach like Vrabel to come in and overturn the culture.Minshew almost took the Colts to the playoffs.
Stop being so afraid of the unknown, what we have right now has not worked and doubling down is lunacy.
