It would be a very logical move to make to increase the coverage ability in the secondary in bringing in a former CB (not a particularly good one but he can play the position) with some ball skills.

It would also definitely free us up a bit more to draft BPA with one less need on the radar.

I don't follow the Cardinals much - is he a good tackler?

but somewhat related to this.

If the Cowboys have a successful season in '10, don't be surprised to see Jason Garrett leave for another team as a headcoach. I believe JG will be a terrific HC, in the Sean Payton's mold, who Cowboys' fans will be asking the same question they're asking today about why Payton wasn't kept. However, if the Cowboys do indeed have a successful year and JG leaves, the next offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys is going to be none other than TODD HALEY.

Yes, I know he's the headcoach in KC, but with Pioli's hiring of Weis and Crennel, Haley is on a supershort leash and it wouldn't shock me if this is his last year there..

Excellent tackler.

One of his strength as a CB, and a reason why he was drafted so early, was because he's a big time hitter.

Jason Garrett isn't going anywhere. He's Jerry's guy through and through - from backup QB to future head coach.

We should be able to draft Allen at 27. My guess is Jerry will see Rolle as a free player and want to draft either a WR or an OL in the first. My guess would be an OL.

I think Rolle's an upgrade over K Hamlin. I think it will impede the progress of M Hamlin though. I doubt he's ready anyway though so another year or two behind either Rolle or Sensabaugh would probably be the ticket anyway. If they tie Rolle up for 4-5 years we are stuck with him for at least 3 years IMO. A lot depends on what they think of M Hamlin and maybe even Allen.

Adam would be the man to know for sure but I think the "Add 1 only if you Lose 1" doesn't apply to cut players.

And cutting a player doesn't open a slot to add.

Its only for traditional FAs.

Rolle would be our one high priced FA if obtained. He fits the bill well. I think the number is 5.5mil and up.

Still a misunderstood concept. He will not be a UFA. That means his contract ran out. This means he is free for anyone.

If i remember correctly if he is released than he wouldn't count as our 1 high priced FA. Than again i could be wrong.

LOL, 5.5 mil won't be enough.

If he's released he's a FA able to sign with any team. I still think the rule applies to FAs. I guess I don't understand the rule. I didn't think the rule applied only to UFAs or RFAs. Where's Adam?

By the way, Stephen Jones has already said it's unlikely we resign Miles Austin just because we don't know the future ramifications of the current labor situation.

So if it's looking like Austin will play on the one year tender, that means Rolle is far less likely

If they are cut, the rule does not apply. Cut and dry. Fair game.

I've never really been a fan of Rolle. I think he's been more of a liability than a playmaker with Arizona. Also I know that Jerry hasn't drafted a player from DA U! since Jimmy was here. my question is has Jerry ever signed a FA that went to DA U! since Jimmy left or ever?

I somewhat disagree with that statement. If Spikes is there at 27 I would easily take him. This might be Brooking last year and Spikes could come in polished to take over.

We're as deep at linebacker as we are at any position on the team...

Does anybody pay enough attention to Rolle to be able to say how he might be a significant upgrade over what we've got already? I know in general I've never been impressed with the AZ secondary, and that Rolle was a disappointment at CB and now they're letting him walk at S when they've got needs on defense and an otherwise competitive team.

Whatever Hamlin's limitations, he knows the defense and isn't a bad player.

I want to solve our S problem for good this year, and I'm leery about replacing a vet with years in this system with a FA who might be an upgrade in talent but who doesn't know what we're trying to do. I think I'd rather get the rookie we think will end up a long-term player for us and train him for a year under Hamlin.

I think this would be a perfect move and really open up the teams draft options. Rolle is a sure thing and in the prime of his career.

I'm down for this. If we can get Rolle into Dallas for a reasonable contract, it would allow us to make a luxury pick at #27, or maybe we could even trade up to get a player we really covet. If Rolle is signed, I'm positive it'll be an OL at #27.

i agree.
