So you trade a $350 windshield for a potential suspension? Even a single game of suspension is going to cost over 10k.

Here's an idea -- take down the license plate, call the cops, and don't try to be Mr. Vigilante.

Easier said than done. The smart thing often gets overridden in moments of passion.

I'm 26, everyone in my family owns guns! :laugh2:

Well, if your car gets hit by a thrown rock someday, why don't you chase down the guy and threaten him with your gun ....... then see which of you goes to jail.

You have, and should have, a right to own a gun, but a gun has no applicaton in this case.

abersonce somehow seems to think that the kids of today are scared of the justice system.

And you somehow seem to think that ALL kids are impervious to the threat of jail or a criminal record.

Just because a kid pokes out his chest and acts tough doesn't mean he has no fear. In fact, when a kid feels the need to act that way it's often to cover up his fears.

And despite what you may think there are still good kids that sometimes do stupid things that would be afraid of prosecution.

Besides, even aside from scaring the kid, having a criminal record means that he can't keep doing things or he goes to jail ...... it's the first strike leading to getting a bad seed off the streets through imprisonment. The first strike has to come from somewhere.........

Half to laugh at you stautner if you think a LOT of kids today have any fear of cops or the justice system. Don';t know where you live but over the last 10 years I have lived in three different parts of the country and in all of them I see that most- and I do mean MOST- teenagers have no fear of cops or courts or any authority at all.

I can't help if if you can only afford to live in the slums .........

AS for your assertion that MOST teenagers have no fear of cops or courts, I have 2 things to say .....

1. Most irreversibly BAD teenagers don't, but most that have even small aspirations for their lives do .........

2. Outward defiance of the law does not mean that kids have no fear ....... you put them in a cell and slam those bars shut and a shole bunch of those guys will suddenly have a different outlook.

Your view of society and the future of our country is pretty dismal. Sure todays kids have some issues, but frankly I have a whole lot more faith in what they can and will do as they mature than you do.

Give us some perspective here -- how do you know so many teenagers? Or are you just focusing on what you hear on the news?

I live in Houston, and I thought it was a pretty tough city, but it's not anywhere near as tough as the spots you have been staying.

Passion? Hold on now. Nobody is talking about having sex with anyone. Let's keep it clean here.

He must be the guy that kept his porch light off at Halloween and reports the neighbors kids to the cops for being too loud when they play kickball in their backyard.

I'm guessing he doesn't really know a lot of teenagers, he's just looking at the thugs hanging out in the abandoned buildings in his neighborhood or who get arrested on Law and Order and assuming that represents all kids in the country.

I was waiting for that from you ......... but now that you mention it, I might have to see if my wife's in a congenial mood ............. probably wishful thinking.

Take justice into your own hands! To hell with the law or the cops during a moment like this!

Take the chance...knock the bastid out! But, make sure that nothing STRANGE happens, like, maybe the kid falls down and hits his head on the curb and dies? Now what...? Or, just get mad and shoot the bastid!

Two wrongs DO NOT MAKE A RIGHT, no matter what you think.

The player has auto insurance...windshield covered, no one got hurt. The player could have subdued the kid, called the cops, have the cops issue what citations is neccessary....case closed, period.

Well, the kid that threw the rock is out walking the street...the player and his friend get arrested. Get it?

You don't randomly lose your temper over stupid stuff like this (although the rock throwing incident could have killed one of the guys)...you need to have some self-control and handle the situation accordingly...otherwise you could end up in big trouble...

An example: True story...a man's friend molested his daughter. The guy called the friend over to his work on the presumption that he needed some furnuture carried away...the guy showed up...the man killed him with his gun. The dad got life in prison, with no parole. He was interviewed on TV and he confessed that he made a BIG MISTAKE by taking the law into his own hands. He will NEVER be with his daughter, wife and two sons...ever again...over his lack of self-control.

Carry on...

You don't have a permit to threaten someone with that gun though.

:clap2: Well done.

Nope I prefer bodily harm.... Sends a much better message. I carry my gun with me everywhere, and I have a concealed weapons permit..

What's class duration out there? How'd they ask you to fire your carry weapon?

Stop talking about your wife.

You are going to disappoint all the ladies on the board who thought you were available. You already chased WG out of the thread. I hope she's OK.

He did the wrong thing, but, it would be hard to let someone throw a rock at your car--and say, "stay there while I call the police"!

Not subscribing to any theory.

Here's what probably happened using both sides of the coin.

Guy throws rock, hits your window.
You pull over, sees the guy who busted your window. Calls the police. Guy sees you and runs to who knows where. Description you gave is vague, because you're probably not close enough to see his features only what he was wearing.

Guy gets lost in the wind and you're stuck w/a busted window.

-------

OTOH
Guy throws rock, hits your window.

You pull over, sees the guy who busted your window. Goes after him. Bust him up a little bit... Willing to let him go if he'd just taken his butt whooping like a man.

Instead the guy who got busted up calls the cops. He's going to get cited for throwing rocks at a moving vehicle... The player is still going to have to pay for his windshield regardless. The case will probably get thrown out of court.

Yep and plus there's no guarantee the cops will even catch the punk! I say justice is best served at times when you handle it yourself!

Keep in mind of quick things happen, I would have chased him down as well..

You're right - there are so few women on these boards that I shouldn't chase them away by dashing all their hopes.

I would have gotten the rock from the backseat or frontseat (if it was still there)...then run him down and hit him with the same rock he threw at me! ******...!!

Then on the way back to my car I would pick up another rock and break his windshield! That'll teach the bastid....!

;)

hat's a pretty silly definition -- it is only self-defense if you have a reasonable expectation that your life continues to be in danger and you have no other recourse. I see plenty of other options here.

OK, so if I hit you and then run, you dont have a right to retaliate?
Because I am running and you are no longer in danger?

Yeah, legally I would say you don't have any right to retaliation
