Why would we want a RB that was displaced by a 34 year old RB?

3 words.

Randle, McFadden, Dunbar

Disclaimer.....I'm not sold on a large man named Christine who can't figure out how to pass block. Something is weird about that.

The main Seattle RB I am interested in is Thomas Rawls. If he is cut or goes on the practice squad. I am running to the phone to call his agent.

Rawls and Michael would be subject to waivers and the Cowboys are 26th in line.

Unless there was a trade.

Can't see the Cowboys seeing him otherwise.

To be fair, Jackson is very close with Marshawn Lynch from their Buffalo days. The move could be to appease the star RB as much as it is a knock on Michael or stamp for what Jackson still has in the tank.

Going into the season with 'what we have' is a huge mistake. McFadden has an injury history and Dunbar could get injured too. If one of those two get injured, are we really expecting the other to take the majority of the runs?

This team does not want a different running back. We are going in with what we have, I don't know if it will matter if Adrian Peterson was a free agent.

If AD was a free agent and we didn't sign him due to ego, then there is a huge issue in the FO. I surely hope we're not looking at new options at RB because we're confident with 'what we have'. We're one injury away from having what formed the basis of our offense last year to being in disarray.

So a team with Lynch, 2 other solid backs and cap problems is going to sign Jackson but we don't even show any interest? ok....

I seriously doubt it that Dallas would have passed on AD if he was a free agent but when Minn is talking multiple top picks for a 30 year old player? No way. Minn was dumb enough to do it when we traded Walker why would Dallas be stupid enough to do it now?

I was being sarcastic to an extent but I could see the front office passing on AD if it became a bidding war. If he wanted to come here at a discount, sure but if he wanted to make the most money possible...we would've passed.

I think there is a limit they would have stuck to. Dallas has made the mistake of throwing money around only to get burned and put themselves in major cap problems. I think to have success now and in the future you need to be wise with the resources you have. Thing is it is not just Dallas other teams have gone out spent big money on FA and fell apart, it is the mindset of trying to buy a championship and it cost us short term and long term. Philly tried it as well

If one of them can't go you bring up a PS guy like Gus Johnson or whomever else you add in final cuts.

Gus Johnson is not even ready. Thats why he'll end up in the PS. Cowboys are set with what they have even if they crash and burn trying to prove their right.

Unfortunately that seems to be the case. Were going to be stuck with what we have till the end of the season for better or worse. The FO does have ego issues. This problem could still be fixed by getting someone here thats reliable and dependable. Its silly to go into the season where your only back that can block worth a damn is Macfadden and if he goes down both Randle and Dunbar can't block and carry the load.

I predict, when we see what Linehan does with the matchups with the personnel he's got at the RB and TE positions, that people do a 180 on this topic about as fast as they do a 180 on every other offseason crisis that turns out to not actually be the team's biggest challenge, after all.

The biggest concern is the health of the three backs we're keeping. For that reason, I'd love to see a young smart player with some durability stashed on the PS. If that's the Gus Bus, I can live with that, though I'd love to see an upgrade there if there's one to be had in cut downs.

I don't think Dallas sees it as a rebuilding project but also not as a 1 year situation. I think being responsible in how you manage the cap is something you must consistently do for today and the future. I would have loved to have kept Murray but 8 mill a season was not going to happen. If I see any fault it was that I think had Dallas been more aggressive in their dealings with Murray they could have reached a long term deal for less than what he ended up getting in Philly.

Every year we have Romo at QB should be a year we are pressing for the Super Bowl. There are times to push and times to.....not push. Now is the time to push. I would be on a 3 year window. After that, well,......we have Vaughn Weeden and Showers on the roster...................?

There's a fairly long list of Michael type players (upside but flawed) that will be cut by Final cutdown this Saturday.
Should be interesting.

We can't and don't want to sign all of these guys. If we want one, well get one

And I think Dallas has done a lot to put a team around Romo but this is not about Romo. The so called window gets closed a lot faster and for a good long time when teams start throwing cash around. I want Romo to get a championship I also want to see Dallas continue to be successful after Romo is gone and one way to do that is to have quality players on the team, draft picks to use to get a top QB and the cap space to keep quality guys on the team. I don't think anyone expect Vaughn or Showers to be the future and the QB

It is all about Romo; Mystery QB X is taking over soon. I'm not exactly saying throw cash around; But go into the season with a proven RB; We should be pushing for a SB, not trying to "get by"; Something/Anything better then DMC/Randle...

And I am jumping on the Run DMC Train;;

I think it's funny how a lot of you are saying the FO has ego issues, just because they don't see the circumstance the same way as you do.

Sounds like you are the ones with the ego problem. The FO is around these players or their coaches 14 hours a day 6 days a week. You've never even met any of them.

How about you just let them do their job? I think the past few years of success in the draft and free agency has given our FO enough skins on the wall that they deserve a little respect.
