I don't blame him for a second for taking every dollar he can. The capitalist parasite owners will cut you in a second if it serves their purpose, so take what you can when you can. However, why pick that team who hasn't won jack in forever. I'm sure a better team would give him the same $$, He mustn't care at all about winning or else Jacksonville would not be anywhere near his radar.

For someone who was supposed to be a reliable tackler, he seemed to miss a lot of tackles

Church was far from our weakest link, but I haven't been a fan of his play over the past couple of years

Absolutely. It seems like once a narrative gets written, it cannot be changed. Solid tackler? I'll give he made a lot of tackles, but that's mainly because our DL is bad and Sean Lee and the SS HAVE to make a lot of tackles.

the last thing anyone should do is compare the world of elite athlete jobs with normal jobs. If I go to my competitor law firm down the street for more money, it isn't the same as going to a team where you will get paid but end up hating your job because you never win anything (remember sports is about winning).

Not necessarily. There are players in all sports that just see the game as a pay check. Carmelo Anthony immediately comes to mind. You could probably throw players like Bruce carter, Revis island, and Deion in that category as well. On the flip side there are players that take less to play for a better team, see lebron James in miami or David west who opted out of a huge contract with the pacers to play for the Spurs.

I don't think winning is paramount in a lot of player's mind. It is secondary behind getting money.

I would guess a quarter of the players in this game are in it for the glory. The remainder would chase a check, mainly because they have to.

People are people, whether or not they are athletes or not.

Honestly, if I were in a profession where I knew I would likely have to start over in four-six years into a different life, I would milk it when I got that shot.

Right on the money here. Just cause someone is a professional athlete it doesn't mean he isn't a person/private citizen away from the field. This idea that all professional athletes only care about their sport are less common then people want to believe. This forum included.

And there's players like Brady, dirk nowitzki, and Tim Duncan who take less money to help the franchise.

It's funny how much more Church is valued in the league than he is by Cowboys fans. Those pro personnel people must not know what they are doing.

.

LeBron knew he had to leave Cleveland to win his first championship. He took less money to win. He still got a massive contract and now has rings and $$$

Church will only have the $$$

Yes because teams are infallible at this stuff, especially a quality org like the Jags.
