Claiborne in person is worse than on TV

I'd try to swing a deal to salvage some value at this point.

Obviously you won't get close to your investment, but you might be able to get something.

Detroit has a big need for corners and Rob Ryan might still like him and if he and Payton are still talking, you may get something from the Saints.

I would definitely be making some calls.

We'd be lucky to get a 6th for him

We're a better team when he is injured

Did you see the defense last year?

For the record, I think Mo played better than Carr yesterday (who was beat repeatedly by Britt).

I think its technique. He's a man corner and he doesn't seem to bump at the line which means he's already lost.

I just discovered something about myself last night ... I feel the same way about Mo that some people feel about Tony ... there is nothing he can say or do that will change my mind about him. I don't want to hear from him. I definetly don't want to see him on the field. Can we trade him or eat his salary? (What are the other positions that people use against Romo?)

I recall he had a notoriously low wonderlic score. I think honestly he's just not that bright. A very telling play for me was when he tried to get up to return the interception at the end of the game when the victory was sealed if he just stayed down. Returning the int would have risked him fumbling it and giving the ball right back IMO, luckily he fell back down...

Holy crap, I thought I was the only one who noticed that dumb play. I was yelling at my laptop "stay down, dummy!"

Can't believe I brought dudes jersey......

When the zone turns against you... It's over.

Even your interceptions are taken away from you.

He's a liability but I am sure the Cowboys will play him until he loses a game or two by himself to attempt to salvage the draft pick. <sigh> I'd prefer they play Patmon to see what he has, he won't be worse than Claiborne and might make it easier to forget about the dreadful pick if he plays the way he did in pre-season, seems to have much better instincts right out of the gate. Our drafting department needs fired and the Claiborne pick should have sealed their fate.

Actually, he just did lose this game by himself in my opinion. The standings just "says" we won the game. All praise and honor to the football gods.

On the long pass he allowed he didn't jam ther receiver at all. I noticed througout the game we weren't challenging them like we did last week. We played real soft in coverage. We can't do that next week.

You can best believe they are going to be giving 20 yards cushion against the Saints. I'm not going to survive this game. On national TV no less. "I'm coming home to meet you Elizabeth."

Exactly. On the ball that was overthrown he was in position and played the ball perfectly. If the ball had been underthrown he would have broken in on it and had an even easier interception.

I believe it's because they were playing prevent D. Not letting anything get behind them. There was also another defender bracketing that receiver. He had help.

How could the scouts be so wrong on this guy? From what I recall, most guys were saying Jerry did good with that pick..

Actually I don't even think it was a overthrow. A foolish throw but the receiver stopped his route for whatever reason.

This is the NFL. We know better than anyone how hard it is to come up with turnovers. Did you see the INT that Mincey had come directly in his hands? He made the pick. Just because you give him credit for it doesn't change a thing. He's still a underachieving corner for us. But when it was time to make a play he made it.

Dez scored a TD due to bad coverage by the Rams secondary. Do we discredit Dez for that TD because he was wide open?

Dez broke the corners ankles and ran a perfect route. Please don't compare the two..

Just got back from the game. Great win. Down 21-0 I was an unhappy camper. I will post my general thoughts in a separate thread but the horrid play of Mo deserves it's own thread. He is MUCH worse in person than on TV. I watched him on every snap and came away horrified. Yes, he got the pick at the end but that was nothing but an overthrow.

Deep speed= Nonew. He may be the slowest CB we have had since Anthony Henry. He can't catch anyone and WR's were constantly beating him down field. On top of his physical limitations he has no clue what he is doing. He spent half the game looking around for clues as to what he was supposed to do. One glaring play. I'll have to watch it to figure out where it was. But he was top of the field covering 13. A few seconds before the snap he started back peddling giving the WR a good 7-8 yard window to work with. At the last second he must have realized he was in the wrong coverage because he sprinted at full speed to the line, getting there as the ball was snapped. HE basically ran past the receiver, who was immediately six yards behind him. Luckily, Davis never saw it or it would have been another easy TD.

At best, he is the #4 CB on this team and for the money I would rather put Patmon out there. If we cut him tomorrow I would he a happy camper. Just an awful, awful player.

Rant over. Enjoyed the game. Love my fellow fans who showed up and packed the Jones dome!

I wish there was someway I could post the texts I was sending yesterday to a fellow Cowboys buddy of mine in Memphis - 90% of them were about Claiborne's poor play and they were not rated PG. The last text of the day I sent was "I'll be damned...".

He's cheap now, lets give him a low ball offer when his contract is up. That way he'll go somewhere else and we'll get a good comp pick since he was a first rounder.

There's still a chance you can continue to play at a relatively high level, like Terrence Newman did, for several years after the Zone turned. Not that the Zone will notice.

I have seen people saying how good Carr was yesterday and he was just as bad as Claiborne except for the fact Davis overthrew his man twice on plays that likely would have been long receptions if not TD's. We have to get better pressure than we did yesterday. We must tackle better as well. Last week against Tennessee we swarmed to the ball.....not so much this week and we got juked a lot...ton of extra yards due to that. In fact, I would guess we gave up close to 100 yds on plays we got juked on...not just normal RAC yards.

Some drafts everybody misses.

A few years ago, everyone said that Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry was a consensus 'can't miss' prospect and draft pick and we know how that turned out.

These Claiborne is a bust comments are funny. JeMarcus Russell is a bust. Leaf was a bust. That guy the Bills drafted a few years ago.... Maybin? There are so many more. No way I would put Claiborne in that company.

There's no comparison. I was asking a question. And Dez may have "broke" ankles but the corner read it TERRIBLY and paid for it. He tried to bite the wrong route. But there was no comparison. I was asking a question. Do you discredit that play because the corner screwed up? Of course not.

What's your evidence that he does have brains? Because his Wonderlic score and overall apparent sense of awareness indicate otherwise.

I don't have any evidence. He may simply can't play football. But he had the "brains" to do it in college and be a projected top 10 pick though right?
