Claiborne, Mathieu or Peterson?

Honey Badger is starting on Saturday because of injury. Coming into the NFL he has more red flags than Dez or even Aaron Herandez did. Doubt the kid can stay out of trouble.

Peterson is on the verge of being special... Claiborne I'm not so sure about just yet.

Who really knows. I think Mathieu might be regarded as the best value when it's all said and done.......provided he even plays long enough to make it worth discussing.

You don't luck into 7 picks dude. Get real.

Right..... Just like Te'o not being lucky in any of his interceptions last yr...

You guys are all rolling on this Peterson Hype train...

Is he a playmaker? Definitely, but sadly that is mostly in the return game.

But in pure 1 v 1, shutdown that WR.
I'd take Claibourne Day and Night.

Peterson isn't lucky, he is opportunistic and has elite ball-in-air skills.

His coverage metrics, however, are not any better than Claiborne, and may in fact be worse.

If we are talking best CB (not return man or athlete), at this point, I go Peterson because of how much he improved into his second season and how opportunistic he is. It is much closer than those enamored with interceptions will say though, and I think Claiborne has a real shot at a better career because he is less of a gambler.

Honey Badger has a lot more to prove before I even list him as a top 32 DB or discuss his "career potential".

I don't get this Peterson by a mile talk. What is the super impressive body of work from Peterson that just rockets him past everyone else? Peterson was excellent at returns, but his first year was less than impressive as a CB. His second year, he was better, but let's see how Mo does in his second year.

In college Mo was the better cover corner, PP was the playmaker and Honey Badger was the highlight reel. PP isn't as technically sound as Mo, but he wants to be the best badly and it's evident, so I think he will work hard as hell to improve on his deficiencies. I think If Mo works just as hard it'll be a toss up at best. I don't think Mo will ever be clearly better but PP has the ability to be considered clearly better, so it boils down to who wants it and how hard they work. Honey Badger is exciting and will be, but ask any receiver in say three years who they'd rather face of the three and I'd be floored if they don't all call on Honey Badger, so no offense (I love my LSU Tigers) but I don't think he belongs in this discussion.

Joe Haden?

Never heard of him?

Don't let the fact he plays for Cleveland fool you. A ton of experts regard him as a top CB, and probably the best cover man.

Had he played for a team like NYG, Dallas, Atlanta, GB, Steelers, Pats ect....he would be considered the best hands down

Peterson by a mile. He has a lot of stuff you can't teach. Speed, ball skills, size, strength. His technique might not be as good as Mo's, but that will come later. Honey Badger isn't in the same conversation.

/thread for me. Peterson is easily the best right now. I think he has the best career as well. I wanted to draft him pretty bad that year.

I think, statistically speaking, Claiborne will be more likely to have a pass not completed to the receiver he is covering than Peterson will over the next 5 years.
Some might say that means I think he's better (or will be better) than Peterson. Maybe that makes me a homer. But I'd be willing to put a fairly large amount of money on that result playing out.
Lol.....pass completed? What kind of weird angle is that?

There is no comparison at this point. Peterson is already the best young corner in the nfl and has deon like abilities on special teams. They are already comparing him to deon.

I love Claiborne, but yes that is a complete homer statement. But it's early for Claiborne. I expect great things.

For the record, Peterson had zero tds last year. Reality and hype get blurred all the time.

Not enough evidence to say right now.

A lot of you are saying Peterson, and I would agree, but we have a lot more film on him.

Claiborne was a better pure corner at LSU and it would not surprise me if he is the best pure corner out of these 3.

Out of Morris Clairborn, Tyrann Mathieu and Patrick Peterson, which one will have the best career. The worst career?

Tyrann Mathieu is projected to start against the cowboys, and is wowing people in camp supposedly.

I'm predicting Patrick Peterson has the best career from what I saw in college and NFL thus far, with Tyrann Mathieu close behind.

For me, before I cave on my opinion of Mathieu, I need to see him handle success. And likely over a few years because quite frankly, his history suggest he can't handle the success. Either way, I won't fault the cowboys for passing on him.

Look at some of these plays."Lucky" picks my ***.

The ones at 1:20 and 1:26 are amazing.

He looks like a WR in some of these.

Week 2 (vs. Patriots) - Tipped ball at the LOS. Comes down about 5 yards from where Peterson was standing when tipped.

1:38 in the video. Really "lucky" there. LOL.

will claiborne have a highlight video after 2 years?

I can't even find a single clip of him on youtube, outside of what he did in college.

I think he said "Haden?" because there are clearly better CBs than Haden in the league.

1. Revis
2. Sherman
3. Flowers
4. Webb
5. Joseph (although he had a bad year last year, I'll keep him here for now).

Honestly, I think being in CLE has helped him. There's still a lot of buzz around him from his draft status, but the guy gets quite a bit of help and when he doesn't he's less than stellar. But nobody really watches him because he plays for CLE so his reputation is largely unscathed.

Teams pick on Peterson and do not avoid throwing to his side. Good thing some of you guys are not offensive coordinators. You guys would be avoiding a guy who gets beat more than he picks off passes

here are the "real" numbers

http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/01/12/cornerbacks-a-glance-at-the-2011-numbers/

http://www.revengeofthebirds.com/20...coverage-stats-shocking-and-not-in-a-good-way.

Both of those articles are from his rookie season. His play improved in 2012, although he's got some work to do.
