C'mon, why not upgrade at backup QB?

IIRC, Moon was the one who advised Ricky Ray to try his hand in the NFL, wasn't he?
No, he advised him to wait two or three more years before trying the NFL. Fact.:)

There is a big difference between why Warren Moon went to the CFL and the reason Ray is in the CFL. When Moon came out of college many NFL teams were not interested in a black QB and the thought process was to move him to another position despite the fact that Moon was a very good college QB. Moon had no interest in that and went to the CFL so he would have the chance to play QB as times changed Moon entered the NFL and showed people what some already knew which is he had the talent. Ricky's story is much different; he has had chances to make NFL teams and did not show enough to keep a job at this level.

Thanks, bro. There are many such stories. All it takes is a little research. All you have to do is punch in both Warren Moon & Ricky Ray into your internet search vehicle.

I'm not the one to brought RR into the discussion.:)
Bringing Ricky Ray into ANY discussion as a favorable option is idiotic. JMO.

Afraid not, those who claim otherwise are the spinners. That's exactly what happened. Are you a disgruntled former Q suporter? LOL

Man, that's weak. On the DMN boards (and somewhat here also), I continually questioned the utter nonsense behind the Carter/Hutchinson feuds for years. That's rich! :)

Where did you get that LOL and L A R G E nonsense again? Or should I ask your other persona?

I will laugh. You talk about back ups with upside. Maddox has none. He will be 36 when the season starts. He lost his back up spot in Pittsburgh. His two great seasons(2002-2003) were not all that great and he was the starter at that time.

As a back up in 2004 and 2005 he has come into games and done nothing. This was after losing his starting gig to a rookie. He completed less than half of his passes, thrown more interceptions than TDs and single handidly lost games for Pittsburgh.

Yes, I will laugh. From starter(2004), to back up(2004-2005), to off the team(2006) in 3 years. He couldn't even stay on as the 3rd string guy and no other team picked him up in 2006. That is quite a trend full of upside.
Yes, Johnson is far superior. LOL:lmao2:

I wouldn't say he's far superior but Johnson is and has been a much better QB over the course of his career than Maddox.

I think Vince Ferragamo played in the CFL for like a year and then came back to the NFL. I don't think you can say he had a great career either but just as an FYI thing.
Ferragamo failed miserably in the CFL.

RR went to a small school and went the CFL route in order to play. It will take the right NFL opportunity for him to succeed, I know that. UDFA's like Romo don't get chances very often. To say he stinks after two Grey Cup wins is plain stupid, though. I never predicted greatness for the guy--just that he was a legit prospect:Tall, smart, accurate, tough, a winner and a student of the game. Ray has as much or more talent than Garcia.

Apparently, so is Ricky Ray, the object of your affections.

The reports about him not throwing a TD in 4 games and then getting benched don't sound too good at all......

I'll grant you that, but Maddox is younger, less wear and tear and a better pedigree.

And Brad was a starter last season while Maddox was not even on a roster. I can see why people aren't enamored with Johnson, but I can't see how anyone thinks Maddox is an upgrade. There are 32 NFL teams that didn't think Maddox was worth even a 3rd string position last year. Is that some sort of league wide conspiracy or is Maddox just not good?

His pedigree dissappeared a long time ago. He never came close to being worth a first round pick. He is only 3 years younger, so that is not much of a difference. He hasn't been worth any thing to earn substantial wear and tear.

"Pedigree"? Please don't bring your Yorkshire Terrier into this.

You hate Johnson. We get that, but to pimp Maddox because of his age and health (which should tell you something but it doesn't) over Johnson is right out of Reaching 101.

He hit a slump at one point a couple of years ago. He's also an all star with 2 Grey Cup wins in 3 tries. Highest paid player in the league. Great completion percentage. A CFL failure? You're nuts.:lmao2:
