Coach Mike McCarthy is growing on me

A lot of people were turned off to him because of Aaron Rodgers, that's it. I recognize that Aaron never one ANYTHING (championship wise) without MM.

Exactly, and I think it's becoming clear that Rodgers is hard to work with. If anything, I think it's a testament TO the skill of Mike McCarthy that he managed to lead the Packers to the SB win they had with him. LaFleur couldn't do that with Rodgers.

I've never understood why fans would not respect any coach who has won a Super Bowl. The coaches on that list are relatively few (35 in 56 years of football). Explaining away the accomplishment seems to happen more frequently than it should.

Which is why I mentioned about Parcells. It's funny, Parcells pulled us out of the Campo nightmare, and McCarthy has pulled us out of the Garrett nightmare. Both coaches set us up for long term success if we maintain the formula. Hopefully, Mike and Quinn stay a long time, and, hopefully, the FO keeps the formula going for a long time.

Mike gets a lot of heat but honestly he puts together some dam good teams. He just doesn't have that "attitude" most fans love to see, the guy is just a chill vibe type of person but he produces.

You've got Rodger's number and you're right, he's an arrogant rat. He'd badmouth his mother if he thought it would make him look better.

People think Rodgers was some great QB right out of college. Did they already forget how he drop like a rock and didn't get drafted until GB took him at 24? MM developed him for 3 years before he got to be the starter in year 4. MM is known for developing QBs and has worked with some good ones (Montana, Grbac, Gannon, Favre, and Rodgers).

I have never been a fan of this coach. But after week 1, he's growing on me. A lot of people are down on this coach, make fun of this coach, and outright disrespect him. But he had this team ready week 1 despite no preseason action for the starters. That's not easy to do. He had to achieve game speed through practice. Because if a player gets injured in practice, it's not seen as bad as if they're injured in a preseason game. Even though it is essentially the same thing.

BigMac had these guys ready to roll week 1. Can't say the same for the Giants head coach. Lets stop with the talk about him being the worst coach in the NFC East. Because it's not even close.
After just one mere week ?

Whether praise or criticism, that seems like an knee jerk overreaction way too soon and premature.
It's still a very long season from here. Lets' re-visit this thread at season's end, eh? ....

KJJ---we cant lose against Jets...we just cant tha4t is why i put OCTA-PLAT.....we just cant...you dont go into Met life and put leagues worst beatdown and then

allow a team in your house to win next week....they are ready for Jets running game...we close that down it's good night Irene as Troy Aikman use to say....should

kick it up to 16-PLAT whatever that4 is....or say if we lose this i will Never put another PLAT up?.......i should...any push back and i just might
Hopefully you end up right. We just have to hope the big blowout over the Giants doesn’t have the team overconfident. They have struggled against backup QBs in the past. Mitch Trubisky, Sam Darnold, Matt Flynn, Colt, McCoy, and Josh McCown all did a number on them. However, the Cowboys have a much better defense than they had during those seasons. As long as we show up to play, we should come out on the winning end provided we don’t turn the ball over.

You’re living in the moment. If the Cowboys lose on Sunday to the Jets you won’t be feeling as good about McCarthy. I’m not going to be giving him or anyone else any kudos after week one. We’ll see how the season plays out and if we do anything in the playoffs if we make them. You can almost bet we won’t make it through the season without seeing a fire McCarthy thread. This is year four with him and we need to make a strong run in the playoffs. If we don’t McCarthy may not be back next season. Any step back from what we’ve done the past two seasons and he likely won’t return.
Well he’s been 12-5 the last 2 years so it’s not just this year of evidence.

It’s not just 1 week. He’s 24-10 the last 2 years. Have you been on the far side of the moon?

If we go 12-5 again and it still doesn’t lead to at least a divisional round playoff win, do you think a lot of fans are going to be satisfied and still believe in McCarthy?

Love the culture change over the last 3 years and how the roster has been constructed, KM has been holding this team back with his nonsense/no flow play calls to boost his credentials to be a HC. Glad that monkey is off our backs and onto the chargers back now.
Lol, Kellen Moore is not the monkey on this franchises back.

Agreed. I am living in the moment. It doesn't mean he's some great coach. But it does point to his experience.

I like Big Mike. He's funny as hell, and very relatable to average people unlike the Ivy League no talent success story Jason Garrett.

I hope you’re feeling the same way about him come December, January and into February.

This team is very different from a Garrett led team. My main point was that BigMac is not the idiot people make him out to be. I'm just impressed by how ready he had this team week 1. Unlike last year. He doesn't have an elite QB anymore, yet he has this team getting better every year. I'm not saying he's the 4th and 25 genius Andy Reid is, but he's not the idiot people make him out to be.
