I would argue, yeah, Brady has been blessed being a part of a great offensive system most of his career.

And I just told you why he started for a team and got tot he playoffs. The Chiefs that year had a dominant rushing attack that took a lot of the heat off of Cassel, that was 5 seasons ago.

And again, no I don't think we will find a QB on the level of franchise QBs in this league, obviously. I want a capable backup that can actually keep us in games with limited mistakes. That's not Cassel, unless you think our rushing attack will become dominant again. This crap should have been sorted out in the offseason so we weren't scrambling to snatch up QBs like him.

I don't think our rushing attack will be dominant again, but it will at least need to be efficient and effective. We can't put Weeden or Cassell in positions where they have to face third and longs and could potentially turn the football over. All they have to do is use their backs, get the ball out of their hands, be decisive, and allow their receivers to make plays on the outside. Linehan will adjust the playbook a little bit to suit their strengths.

Cassel is absolutely no better than either Flynn or Ponder. His best year came in 08, we all know that was the Patriots system. You then had 2010, he didn't do anything in 2010 - you had Jamaal Charles who rushed for 1,400 yards and Thomas Jones who rushed for nearly 1,000 himself. The star of that team was the rushing attack along with a solid defense.

There's a very real possibility that Weeden stinks it up and this guy gets playing time. I get backup QBs won't lead you to the Super Bowl, but this guy won't even keep you in games. He's awful.
Ok. That means one thing. Go back to what made us successful. Start running the football better. Doesn't have to be that 2010 KC team. But it must be more efficient than it has been this season so far.

First off, Cassel has been with Chiefs, Vikings, and Bills since leaving the Chiefs. The Vikings didn't fight to keep Cassel after the 2014 season. Then Cassel had trouble beating out both Manuel and Taylor in Buffalo.

The only good option that was out there right now is Flynn. He at least can drive the ball down field and keep you in games.

Bills cut him cause of $ and re-signed him.

Flynn couldn't stick with the Patriots as a number three and was also cut by the Jets. I'm not calling Cassel our savior, but he is probably a better option than Flynn in this offense. Dallas worked out Flynn and passed. That says something.

It's not even a pick for the next draft. In fact, they exchange picks in the 2017 draft. The Cowboys also get their #7 and they get the Cowby's #5.

So the Cowboys get Cassel and a #7 for their #5 in 2017.

Stop complaining! Who is it YOU WANTED this offseason and for what cap price?? Answer those two questions or go away.

Shaun Hill, Matt Flynn (Yeah, still could have signed him), Michael Vick, Matt Schaub were all available this offseason.

Low price for a qb that's started in the NFL.
Pro bowl in 2010, pretty good career stats.

Well they worked out Matt Flynn today. But I guess you know better than them.

Mike Vick?? LOL.

Matt Schaub for how much??????

Shaun Hill for how much???????

I'm sure Matt or Schaub would be SOOOOO much better now.

Basically you had no ideas.

I look at Matt Cassel as our Steve Beuerlein 2.0.

...now how many of you youngsters will need to go Google Steve Beuerlein?

Or possibly our next Bernie Kosar, who helped in the 1993 playoffs?? (more kids will have to Google that one).

Christian Ponder, a Dallas native and former 1st-Round pick, couldn't even show enough in his workout to get signed in a desperation backup role.. Disappointing.

Why are you bringing up the cost of either Schaub or Hill? Both were affordable.

And I had ideas, obviously, you just don't like those ideas. There is a difference.

Shaun Hill is trash. Just ask St. Louis fans. He had one of the best defenses in the league and still couldn't get them to .500. Matt Flynn had one good game in 2011 and has been garbage since. Shaub had a few good years and fizzled out. Vick could never stay healthy.
