LOLOL
Congratulations for being the first person to ever use the sentence - If Brandon Weedon goes down, our season is over.

@Alexander @Risen Star
I don't mean to pick you guys out of a crowd, but, well, yeah I kinda do.
You two are both obviously unhappy with the Cowboys swapping late round picks in 2 years for Cassel.
If you were the GM, what would you do differently? Going back in time and signing someone previously is not an option. Time travel machines haven't been invented yet. Would you roll with Weeden and Moore? I don't mean for this post to be snarky (well like 10% snarky). I'm truly interested in your perspective, and how you, as a GM, would handle the situation.

I would never have had Weeden as the backup in the first place and then sign Moore as my developmental player if I have so little real faith in either one of them to make a move like this. I would hope I had enough faith in my personnel department and coaching staff giving me the best advise up until this point that I did not have to collect insurance.
I mean seriously. If a rival did this, would you actually not view it as desperate?
Be honest with yourself.
I can see how "insurance" is good and I can talk myself into this. But divorce yourself from your fanhood and it is pretty easy to see how this is just strange.

So I'm stuck with this horrendous QB depth chart behind Romo? I can't point out how I'd never be in this position with such a complete bum about to start next week? Then I'd sign a guy off the street. I wouldn't burn a draft pick for someone else who can't play. You've changed nothing about the situation post-trade. You've only weakened your draft capital.
This one was free. Any future lessons cost you likes.
I look at Matt Cassel as our Steve Beuerlein 2.0.
...now how many of you youngsters will need to go Google Steve Beuerlein?
I gave you a like. Who would you pick up off the street?
Bonus question (only if you want to answer): What would you have done this offseason (or the offseason before even) to have a better backup than Weeden? Anyone in particular?
(Edit: fat finger on small screen create typo)
Well, that is a little of the point.Lol gotta love this hate on cassell or weeden or any other backup. How many fantastic backups are in the league as it is. We just all think we know more than these NFL teams.
So would I. This accomplishes nothing. You currently have complete crap starting at QB. If he goes down, you'll have complete crap replacing him, with or without the trade for Cassel.
We have to win games for the next 8 weeks with awful QB play.
This is a good move by the front office. It cost a little too much, but not if it keeps you in contention for a Super Bowl.
