It’s not massive. You are getting a 10-15 QB and two players instead of a 5-10 QB. Dak will make a few more plays than Dalton will, especially running assuming his ankle is 100%.
But again we have losing year in year out because we don’t invest in defense. Instead of trying to compete defensively with high risk reward players, we should actually just put some money back there. If Trent Dilfer can win a super bowl, so can Andy Dalton with these weapons.
so down grading the QB play, the offense as a result and then try to compensate with two average defensive players...is that the plan?
btw, Dalton is more 20-25 or even 25-30 range...he is defintley not a 10-15 range...no way.
and we have invested in defense. in fact we have invested a lot...but we just made bad investment after bad investment. we have only had one impactful defensive player in 15 years of drafting defense (assuming Lawrence is that impactful player)....we have had lots of bad FA signings like Poe, Worley, McCoy, Griffin, Hardy, Quinn (in essence giving up a 6th), Woods, etc. etc. etc......
the problem is evaluating defensive players draft and FA and signing the right ones..not sure why, but we have to fix that before we see a change in defense....
since 2015,
we have drafted 24 defensive players....the one everyone is so high on is Diggs and that's because of potential given his play this year has been not that good......yes he is a rookie. I get it.....but he is not impactful. so we have had no impactful players.... some could be considered good, but not impactful like Auwzie, LVE
we have drafted 18 offensive players, CD, Zeke, Dak, Schultz, Gallup, Pollard, Biadasz, Wilson, Cooper (since we gave up a first for him).....some are great, some have really high potential, all these good....
why is it that we can't pick defensive players?
