it is true that jerry jones did inquire about a trade for chad johnson, jerry jones said so in an interview

i do agree about the Commanders being better on defense, jason taylor is better than danies, now soemthing i havent thought about is this, is jason taylor in true football shape, only time wil tell

as far as football and knowing football, this is the first year that portis has ever trully worked out and stayed in shape, that helps them, now can portis stay healthy i dont know, then the Commanders have a fairly good offensive line, not great mind you but fair;

they have santana moss and cooley, then they added 3 wrs and tight ends in the draft, so that will make them better on offense

it is true that running the west coast offense will take time, that is true;

but you cant take a team lightly, that the first problem to failure, we saw how that happened against the giants in the playoffs, when newman said, we took the giants lightly, then you make a mistake right there

and we did play the Commanders without T O in the 2nd game,

now do i think we can beat the Commanders yes, we do have a better team period, but what team is going to show up, and taylor does make the Commanders better

that have some pieces to be good, not great, but good and make the playoffs,

now the cowboys can still beat the Commanders twice this year if they want too

we are a better team than the Commanders period, and the loss of that 2nd round pick next year, in the long run will hurt the Commanders, thats for sure

i totally agree with that;

plain truth, again, i just wanted to stomp the Commanders good this year, will be a tad tougher though now with taylor, but it can be done, its all boils down to how bad the dallas cowboys players want to win, and go to the playoffs and win, thats the bottom line, and we do have the talent now

only weaknesses on the cowboys are backup offensive line experience, backup QB, and whom can or is our 2nd starting wr that can step up this year; and kosier is our weak link on the offensive line;

so in reality we are better than any other team in the NFL, we just have to play like it;

everywhere else the cowboys are loaded with talent and players,

Look, this is a dumb move and it improved the Commanders this year. But some of you like Alexander have a hard time reconciling the two.

Let me try to dumb it down for you.

There is this thing call the "long term view" and a thing called "the short term."

The Commanders defense is improved a bit by this move. However, they still have a rookie coach who is in over his head and who will struggle as every young coach does (especially one that has never even be a coordinator before). And they have a GARBAGE QB running this offense: QCampbell will lose them more games than Jason Taylor wins them. So despite the small improvement of the defense, they are not a threat this season.

Maybe they are 7-9 instead of 6-10 now.

Then Taylor walks.

And the Commanders are out of a prime draft pick that could help their team long term.

Thus this is a stupid move.

The ONLY reason this would be a good move or problematic is if they were already a contender and this was a missing puzzle piece.

But between Zorn and QCampbell, the team is going to flounder hard.

Plus the fact they aren't adding Talor to Daniels but replacing a guy gone for the year. If Daniels were coming back i'd say this was a huge addition, but now it just brings them back to even and even isn't scaring anyone in the NFL. They weren't 9-7 because of their DE's.

With Zorn as the head coach he will probably get paid a little extra since he will have to probably fill in as asst. HC. :lmao2:

Any reaction by Taylor yet? Only good thing would be if Taylor refuses to report to the Skins.

Jerry needs to up the bid with a 2009 2nd plus Parcells lovechild Terry Glenn. Then turn around and trade Greg Ellis and Spears/conditional pick to Detroit for WR Roy Williams.

Taylor had a list of SB contending teams he was willing to play for and I am not sure that Washington was on it (only Pats, Cowboys, Chargers, Jags, Eags mentioned, Packers left off due to lack of experienced QB). If Taylor did not want to be traded to the Pack, how could he settle for the Skins? Rogders is gotta be better than Campbell.

Dude, yardbarker is considered so bad we don't allow any of their crap to be posted on this web site any more. That tells me all I need to know.

so they just pulled it out of the clear, blue sky? we've been trying to add a playmaker opposite TO this whole offseason, that's a fact

people trying to convey that Danny Boy has changed his way tells ME all I need to know

Solid pick up Taylor only makes them a better team.

Agreed. Great pick up by the Skins. The NFC East will be very tough this season with all four teams being legitimate playoff contenders with strong defenses.

NFLN is reporting on their ticker tape that Jason Taylor has been traded to Commanders for their 2nd round pick next year and 6th in 2010. Sorry if this is a repost.

OOps. Sorry. I just saw another thread on this topic that I didn't see before I posted. Mods, please merge. Thanks.

You really think the Commanders will be legitimate playoff contenders with a strong defense?

LOL, All owner want to make money!! tell me an owner that dont want to sell jersey's, sell out games and make money from the fan? Owner of a sport teams need to make money. We need to stop using Contender dont mean nothing. Giants was not contender to win super bowl last year but Giants did. Cowboys was fav to win super bowl last few year but what that got you? Sitting at home with us watching super bowl game.

You don't get it. You're the type of fan that Snyder is banking on. He wants his fans to look at this trade as "Gee, my owner just traded for a very good player, this helps us, I just may go to the game now, I might even buy a Taylor Skins jersy because this ROCKS!".

Again, sure, it helps you this year. But look at your team objectivly. Look at the ages of players on your defensive line. Your owner needs to look ahead and find younger players for both lines. Not trade a 2nd round pick for another older player.

I bet the first thing that went through Snyder's mind when Daniels went down wasnt "I'm not going to make the Super Bowl now!" It was "My idoit fans will not come to my games if I have no experience at DE." Thus, he made the trade for Taylor. Look at Extremskins as soon as Daniels went down. Everyone was about to call it a season. No fan calling it a season goes to games and spends outrages prices when you know your team sucks. The Danny knows this. He fixed it and you took it...hook, line and sinker.

I do. They made it last season and have most of that roster returning. Plus, the addition of Taylor will only help them. I am not saying that the Skins are going to go 14-2, 13-3, or 12-4. They can make the playoffs with a 9-7 record. I don't think that is too hard to conceive.

They have talent on that team with Portis, Moss and Cooley. They will have to adjust to a new system on offense and a new DC but Dallas didn't do too bad adjusting to having a 1st time OC and a new DC.

He is really smart... but he couldn't have done it without Vinny, who is Einstein smart.

:hammer:

another reason why I don't believe this crap that Danny has changed, the skins aren't a serious Super Bowl contender, but yet here he is adding a piece that is usually reserved for those teams, a very good player in the twilight of his career

they'll get what? 1-2 years out of him?

2nd round pick seems a lot even for a player like Taylor when you think about what they might be getting

That was a good trade for the Foreskins, 2nd round in 2009 and a 6th in 2010? I'd pull the trigger on that as well...

Good trade for the Skins.

It is going to be EXCEEDINGLY easy to run the ball to Taylor's side if he does his paycheck collection routine like last season, but he'll definitely upgrade their pass rush.

Dude, they have QCampbell at QB. The guy is awful.

You act like switching to an ENTIRELY new offense is going to turn that POS into a playoff QB.

it would be cool if the Skins had a high-powered offense like the Colts, that could take being run on all over, and still win games, but that's just not the case

it changes the whole dynamic of their D, instead of relying on a solid front 4 to stop the run, theyll have to committ more to doing it, and the pass-D will suffer, unless anyone thinks Carter and Jason Taylor are good for 30-35 sacks between them, you can easily take one of those 2, if not both, out of a single game just by running at them
