Well, to be honest he has a lot of company.

He does.

And it wasn't directed at him as much as it was the people who bash the hell out of that trade when Dallas has made arguably crappier trades within the last 90 days.

Maybe you're correct. I just can't see it though. Zorn just doesn't impress me as anything other than a QB coach... and I'm not so sure how he would have done without Holmgren there to help him.

You say they did it last year... but it wasn't really their defense that got them to the playoffs. Heck, I'm not sure what did... but their defense just doesn't impress me at all. Many of their defensive players are old and will only be a year older this season. Their secondary is going to have problems, IMO and the DL (even with Taylor) isn't much to worry about.

I wonder about Taylor at LDE, too. I think he's always played on the right side but Andre Carter is so poor against the run that I can't imagine playing him on the strong side... so that means Taylor will play on the strongside.

I don't know... I see a mediocre team that is going to have coaching questions.

We will see and I'll easily admit if I'm wrong.

You make good points. A lot of last seasons playoff run was based on the emotion from Sean Taylor's untimely death. However, their LB's will be solid with Marcus Washington returning to full health and London Fletcher. The CB's will be solid if nothing else. Springs can still play despite his age. Smoot and Rogers are servicable CB's, nothing too special but not exactly Derek Ross, Mario Edwards or Phillpi Sparks. Laron Landry is a baller at the safety spot. Adding a pass rusher of Taylor's ability will help the entire defense I think.

How he fits in at LDE will be something to watch. Also, how Campbell progresses or grasps the WCO that Zorn puts in place bears watching as well. But I do think that they have enough talent on that roster to be in contention for the final seed in the NFC.

Why would I need to prove something not stated as fact?

You are the individual claiming that we indeed made a serious run at Chad Johnson. And you come up with this yardbarker nonsense from someone named Kolb4starter?

Because he entered "dallas chad johnson trade" into Google and came up with jack.

For last years performance you can. This is a "what have you done for me lately" league. Ellis was great last year and played less games. Infact, a Pro Bowler....

So, using that same logic, Payton Manning and David Gerrard are in the same class when it comes to QBs.

One thing we can agree on... Landry is a heck of a player. Best player on that defense, by far, IMO.

some people value 2nd round picks to much, they are good to have, but I would trade a 2nd round pick for a 30 year old DE one year removed from DPOY anyday. I bet if Balt came to Dallas and offer Ray lewis for a 2nd rounder I bet JJ would jump on that trade, as to every team in the NFL..

Point is that Taylor is a great player and for a 2nd that is not much.....especially when u have a first and can trade down in get that 2nd back....

You are ******** nuts if you really believe that. It's one thing if they were a serious contender, but come on. That 2nd rd pick could have been another WR to put with the handful drafted this year. Or even better, drafting an OL or DL. Drafting one in the 2nd next year would serve them better than trading for a 30+ DE who has admitted his declining desire to play.

You're the board's resident *******. Why would I expect you to do anything decent or honorable? You and objectivity will never be dancing partners.

30,000+ posts, and not one of them is memorable. Bravo

memo to self: knock the Cowboys and their fans, and will get along swimmingly w/ bbgun

don't you hold the CZ record for most banishments?

I'd rather be unobjectionable, than feign it to harass Cowboy fans and lift myself up on a moral pedestal

this is where you cop out and put me on ignore, and act like anyone gives a rat's behind

Nice Move by the Commanders, They really needed help on the D-Line before The Daniels injury anyway.

The problem for the Commanders is this just becomes a self perpetuating cycle.

Phillip Daniels is an old, serviceable starter at the end of his career. He's not someone who should make or break your season. He should be a replaceable player. Given that he's 35 years old, the Commanders should have already had someone in place in their organization to step in for him. Why don't the Commanders have anyone grooming behind him? Because they throw high draft picks at old vets and mid-level role players to fill holes for the here and now with little to no regard for longterm roster building. And now they've just done it again, and they're going to find themselves in the same exact situation 1 to 2 years when they're looking for Jason Taylor's replacement. The Commanders just slap a temporary patch on the problem and stay in franchise pergatory ... just bad enough to not really contend and just good enough that they can't really rebuild and upgrade the talent.

Well I don't mean any harm but I'm glad you aren't our GM. He's 34yrs old with his best days behind him and isn't very good against the run...

Well, I do know the guy can still play football and giving up a 2nd round pick isn't a bad move if you're getting a pro bowl caliber player in return, sorry...

Just back from vacation and this is the news I come back to.

IMO, Washington made a good trade. They filled an obvious need with the loss of Daniels and the uncertainty of Erasmus James.

I'd do that for a 2nd round pick any day of the week. Don't know why I should condemn them for doing the same.

Parcells sure isn't doing us any favors here. Oh wait, it's Jeff Ireland, Parcells is the "hands off" (wink, wink) director of football operations.

Please you're making too much sense, some folks on the board might not realize giving up a 2nd round pick for a pro bowl player isn't a bad idea...

LOL, All owner want to make money!! tell me an owner that dont want to sell jersey's, sell out games and make money from the fan? Owner of a sport teams need to make money. We need to stop using Contender dont mean nothing. Giants was not contender to win super bowl last year but Giants did. Cowboys was fav to win super bowl last few year but what that got you? Sitting at home with us watching super bowl game.

Honestly... I don't know where to start, but here we go. Danny has money. I don't think selling a couple Taylor jerseys is going to put him over the top. The Giants, though not considered a front runner, were not that big of a suprise being they played pretty well down the stretch. The Foreskins are no where near the team the Giants were last year. After that, I cant understand what you are trying to say.

Don't care who the team is, I just HATE, HATE, HATE injuries, especially in TC.

Anyhow-could someone tell me how these players tore their ACLs in NON-contact practices? I'm still mystified.
