i get what you're saying...

however, doesn't the fact that they gave up what they gave up to get portis indicate that they are indeed really that stupid?

They actually got a "shiny object" for Danny that time, though.

The shiniest thing they could get is a third round pick...and we know how dearly Danny holds those. ;)

I agree, not counting arizona and oakland...because they are in a league all their own.

Vinny cerrato maybe the worst decision maker in the nfl.

I cant believe that joe gibbs does business like this. I guess I was too young to realize the types of things he did in the offseason in the 80s when they were a great team.

still suprised though that hall of famer Joe Gibbs is this poor at running a team from the personnel angle, him and cerrato have been very poor.

Exactely!!

Blame Lil Midget all you want because he's just a little rich man baby...but, for St. Gibbs to allow this kinda of crazy stuff to happen to a team he supposedly loves is just nuts!

And, he's a HOF coach?

I wonder why the Patriots are interested. Maroney is a good one. Although it would be nice to have him and Portis on the same team, I doubt Portis would be willing to share a back field.

I seen something that Dillon was talking retirement, so maybe they would want a good veteren replacement.

The Skins won't get a lot of picks for Portis if the Patriots or Jets are the suitors. The Pats don't play that game and have Maroney. While Mangini and Belichick don't like each other, Mangini is definitely following Belichick/Pioli's strategy of building a roster.

People forget that for years there were rumors about the Pats going to trade for Corey Dillon. When they did, they made sure it was only for a second round pick when they already had tons of picks and also made sure that Dillon's contract was very cap friendly (later on they gave him a better deal after he produced).

The real wildcard here is the G-Men.

not sure how tradeable he really is with that ridiculous contract they gave him a couple yrs ago

it was a horrendous trade and a horrendous contract they gave him...but I am glad they did it

Yeah the broncos totally raped the Skins on that one.

Broncos got THE best CB in football AND a 2nd round pick and only gave up an overrated RB that is a "Good" RB on his best day, but nowhere NEAR being the best in the NFL. When you factor in how hard it is to find great CBs compared to great RBs, this trade was of "Herschel to Minnesota" proportions. The broncos are just missing the superbowls (although to be fair, they have no Aikman on their team).

Even the Skins aren't that stupid. This is just another theory borne out of their wild practices in the past, and the fact that they re-upped Betts. Dealing him makes no sense. They can't get back what they gave up, not even close. Portis probably wouldn't even fetch a second at this point, and they gave up the league's BEST corner, and a second round pick to get him. Nonsense, they are not that stupid.
After the Portis, Lloyd, and Duckett trades, I will have to disagree with you.

It's not about getting back what they originally got. It's about getting from someone else more than Portis' current and future value.

Knowing Snyder, they will probably trade Portis to the Raiders for Warren Sapp, and then sign him to a $56 million/3 year contract....

Giving him up for next to nothing would represent a tremendous failure, though, don't you think? I don't think pride would allow that.

Funny thing is that the Skins are indeed looking for draft picks.

If I remember correctly, after the 1st round, their next pick is in Round 5.

In any case, it's something bizarre like that.

Could you imagine if JJ had done that to this franchise? Hard core fans would be going nuts.

But my best guess would be that the Skins instead trade down a few spots and acquire picks. They have so many holes to fill in any case . . . .
I could see it only if the Skins were trying to get a late first, a third, and a bunch of late round picks for him. Other than that, he** no.

the funniest part of this thread is that you all actually think it holds water.

Did you even look at the source? "Draftdaddy"? are you kidding me? these things are only written to stir contraversy (looks like its doing a pretty good job) so more people will read their boards.

Portis isn't going anywhere, like it or not.

I think this rumor has legs, I really do, this time of the year is always where Danny gets big eyes and comes up w/ crazy ideas, or ideas that seem wonderfully to the insane eye
Everybody is missing the more likely to be true rumor that the Skins are trying to trade for Dre Bly. Whats his worth? What could the Skins be possibly willing to give for him?

Apparently you're too dense to read that the overwhelming majority of us think it wouldn't happen and was unfounded.

Well, who knows what is real and what is not real with your team? Look at the history of goofs and gaffs that the Midget and St. Gibbs have done...anything is possible with the dysfunctional team of yours...

So, don't laugh...

Dont even pretend that you didnt nearly **** on yourself the first time you heard it, knowing your FO. After you sat down and thought about it, and realized it was kind of ridiculous, did you take your current stance.

are we talking about the same guy here? The guy that had 1500 yards and 11 td's while healthy just 2 years ago?

so the guy has one injury plagued year and all of a sudden he is useless?

typical logic
