Can you ever back up a claim that you have? or is everything you state just complete bull or remark just to belittle a poster?

Just having fun with you...it's all good!

When it comes to the Foreskins, the truth is ALWAYS stranger than fiction. So whether the rumor mill has this one pegged or not has yet to be seen. But, honestly, tell me this move would surprise you and wouldn't reek of Bruce Smith part Deux.

Funny that you knew exactly where that "reliable source" came from. Guess you Foreskins fans only call a source reliable when it's a move that doesn't make the team and it's collective fan base look like................ah well forget it.

The giants giving a perenial pro bowler to an in-division rival WOULD surprise me.

Ah, and the hypocrit rise. Isn't PFT the same place that most people on here hate as well? Yet, it is only bad for Commander fans to disregard it

We're not trading Portis. Gibbs has been quoted numerous times saying Clinton isn't going anywhere and that he's the undisputed starter next season.

Clinton's injury and his contract pretty much makes him untradable anyway. High profile RBs have very little value right now. We'll see if the Giants will give up a first or whatever for Willis.

Clinton Portis doesnt seem to like playing for the Skins.I know it will never happen but I would love to see Portis and Barber in our backfield.

Biggest trade proposal on the table is the Skins trying to dump Clinton Portis, since they re-upped Betts. They want picks in return because they don't have many. They like Gaines Adams, but they are more open to moving #6 for additional picks from another team in the top ten -- they have a ton of options. They may even stay at six if Adrian Peterson falls, believe it or not! Portis may be moved and there are several interested teams -- both New York teams and the Patriots.

This is slowly becoming a rumor with legs in the D.C. area. The Commanders are looking for draft picks. Obviously, there is no chance that they'll trade him to the Giants, but interesting that he might be on the way out nonetheless.

There is no way they would trade him to the Giants. I hope he get's out and goes to the Jet's who have plenty of room to fit him in under the cap. I would think Peterson would not be there past the Browns.

While the trade might seem appealing on the surface, I just dont see how we could do it

The one thing I have learned this year is that you need to good backs in your offense. Look at all the top teams in the league, they all have two backs that are capable of starting.

While betts would be able to get the job done, he doesnt have the same big play ability that portis has. Betts almost never breaks the big run. While he might be able to get the chunk of yards, he doesnt have the ability CP has to get in the endzone.

To me, betts is the perfect backup to portis.

I see your point, and let me re-iterate I don't expect this to happen unless someone gets stupid. I think Portis is in that position where his market value is not worth what the Skins need to get in order to make trading him worthwhile (if that makes sense).

But while its nice to have two complimentary backs and will make your offense better, you have to weigh that against having a defensive backfield that can't cover anyone, or some LBers that got run over last year. Not to mention a severe lack of youth on the Oline and in other parts on the team.

A couple of high draft picks dedicated to positions of greater need starts to sound pretty good vs. having 2 good backs.

That "perrenial Pro-Bowler" is at the tail end of an otherwise productive career, coming off an injury plagued season and is starting to become a locker room cancer. Within the division or not this guy screams "Foreskin Fodder".

As for PFT. I concede, the rag is crap. My point was more illustrative of the tendency for many of the Foreskins fans (not necessarily you, mind you) to latch onto ANY source of news that bodes well for the Skins FO and team yet quickly disregards ANY source of info that pegs them for the inept organization of dysfunction that they truly are.

But hey, it's your crap team. I could care less. Actually that's not true. I LOVE that you suck and will for the foreseeable future. Everytime I hear of another idiot move made by Danny and Co. I get the feeling like when a homeless child or a suffering puppy have been saved. It's all warm and fuzzy.

Giving him up for next to nothing would represent a tremendous failure, though, don't you think? I don't think pride would allow that.
Good point. The trick would be in defining what constitutes "next to nothing." If they're really worried about Portis' health (and really okay with Betts as his replacement), I could see settling for a 2nd (just off the top of my head.)

Either way it's pretty entertaining as news from Commanders Land almost always is.

Isn't Portis 3 years into an 8-year contract with a 17 million signing bonus? If that's the case, the Commanders would owe about 10.5 million to the cap gods were they to trade Portis.

Ain't going to happen for that reason alone (unless he's scheduled to make 15 million this year, which you can never rule out in BizarroRedskinsLand).

bails us out of what exactly? having a great back?

Having no draft to speak of? That was pretty obvious in my post.

The Commanders give out tons of dough and bring prices up for owners all around the league, so when they spit the bit and blow an entire draft I hope no one comes and bails them out.

Meaning give them no draft picks for there own in house problems. Portis is a great back and I think it is foolish to think he will be moved, even more foolish that the giants are rumoured...who would trade within their division like that.....

Blowing your whole draft was ok in 1978 or 1982...it is rule number 1 on how not to build a team in this era.

sorry guys and you might be upset with me for this one but i'd trade a 2nd rounder for portis considering the drafting we've done in the 2nd round the last few years fasano, j.rodgers, burnett, julius jones and so on.

portis is better than what we have combined sorry to say people.

homer or not i'd take portis who is not injury prone he just took a shoulder injury last season which doesnt make you injury prone.

that guy still has given us fits and the rest of the league. he's like 25 years old and being badly coached by over the hill joe gibbs (who thinks he still has riggins).

I think portis is a gamer and plays with passion i'd love to make him a cowboy and mb3 can stay effective in his reserve role.

Julius can be traded or cut without much to lose because he's still in his rookie deal.

guys lets be realistic portis is a hell of a player and i'd take him an instant impact player over a second round pick which for us really doesn't pan out.
