the funniest part of this thread is that you all actually think it holds water.

Did you even look at the source? "Draftdaddy"? are you kidding me? these things are only written to stir contraversy (looks like its doing a pretty good job) so more people will read their boards.

Portis isn't going anywhere, like it or not.

While you're right about the source, I would certainly be shopping Portis were I the Skins.

Despite the fumbles Betts had one heck of a stretch run. And while he's a little older he has much less tread on the tire.

Coupled with a complete dearth of draft picks, why not dangle your most marketable commodity (for which you already have a decent backup) and see if someone overwhelms you?

Not saying they'll dump him for cheap by any stretch, but sometimes GMs get stupid (as you surely know firsthand).

While the trade might seem appealing on the surface, I just dont see how we could do it

The one thing I have learned this year is that you need to good backs in your offense. Look at all the top teams in the league, they all have two backs that are capable of starting.

While betts would be able to get the job done, he doesnt have the same big play ability that portis has. Betts almost never breaks the big run. While he might be able to get the chunk of yards, he doesnt have the ability CP has to get in the endzone.

To me, betts is the perfect backup to portis.

are we talking about the same guy here? The guy that had 1500 yards and 11 td's while healthy just 2 years ago?

so the guy has one injury plagued year and all of a sudden he is useless?

typical logic

Wow, two years ago, I was two years younger!

Oh the past, what could have been...

Yeah, I see your logic...

I wonder why the Patriots are interested. Maroney is a good one. Although it would be nice to have him and Portis on the same team, I doubt Portis would be willing to share a back field.

I think Maroney can be special and Portis doesn't fit the Patriot style of player. I doubt very much that New England really wants Portis. They could be trying to up the price if they think the Jets really want him.

Personally, I like Betts better than Portis because he moves the chains while Portis is flashier but makes too many negative plays.

The Jets would make the most sense, but I am not sure what they would give for him. They have a relatively young team and should build with that in mind. An injury prone prima donna is not a good fit for them.

And one thing we know for sure: If he did go anywhere, he'd suddenly be overrated and not worth the money he was getting. :laugh2:

Well, considering that was the last season he was healthy, then yes, it is relevant.

But ok, lets try this. While still being hampered by several different injuries last year, he was still on pace to reach 1000 yards, and somehow managed to get 7 TD's in a 8 game span.

is that still not good enough for you?

Considering how worthless Shawn Springs got in one year, I think you're right.

The players' value is directly proportionate to the likelihood of them being dealt away or for. See also:Brandon Lloyd, Andre Carter and Adam Archuletta.

Considering you traded away one of the best CBs in the league, and yes I know he did not want to sign back with the skins, and a 2nd round pick.

I would say no.:D

And don't forget how mediocre Champ became when he was traded away. He "didn't make enough big plays".

Some even said Smoot, a huge Skins fan fave for some unknown reason, was about as good as he was. :lmao2:

But then again, I'm a fan of America's Team, while you are a fan of the Commanders!

That makes a HUGE difference...

Get it?

Could you imagine if JJ had done that to this franchise? Hard core fans would be going nuts.

Jerry traded down for more picks then drafted garbage! Like they say, there is more than one way to skin a cat. ...and a football team!!! :laugh2:

Man, that hurt. The more I think about it, Danny Boy should take a page out of Jimmy Johnsons book and trade the one thing you have that the perceived value is way more than the actual value. I am sure they could re-coup at least three picks.

Well, if that is the case, why did you need to ask this question?

"stats over opinion... hm, which one to side with..."

:laugh2: Keep that window shut...I think the cold air is freezing your brain! (you do have a brain, right)?

:laugh2: what else should I expect. I come in here with opinion, get bashed for not providing stats. I come in here with stats, get bashed for creating an opinion off it.

Can you ever back up a claim that you have? or is everything you state just complete bull or remark just to belittle a poster?

First of all, PLEASE keep Portis. He virtually disappears when the opposing team is Dallas.

Second of all, for the amount of money the Skins signed that guy to, quite frankly, no it's not good enough. That whole deal has turned sour considering what was given up and was produced in return.

The way the Skins F.O. runs the team is laughable. But don't you worry. I'm sure they'll get it right this year once they cut Springs and sign Clements or re-sign Smoot (this is hilarious) and reap the rewards of those draft picks in rounds 1,5,6,7. And, don't forget there's a chance you trade for Strahan and lock up London Fletcher.

No, really, I think you guys are on the right track.................again:lmao:
