I think Lawrence has to have a monster season to get the type of deal he is wanting. The back surgeries should keep the team hesitant to commit to him unless he plays up to the level of our previous DeMarcus.

Thanks for refreshing my memory brother,, I do remember that now,,, so it makes a little sense I guess, but seemed harsh coming from Jerry,, maybe he was lit.

I think jeri might have been joking about quitting on quitting drinking

I'm not resigning him unless it's on a deal with his back trouble in mind. Potential to be a really good player, but you can't tie money up in that back. It's riskier than bringing in a high priced free agent from another team.

I think Vernon had the one sack where he grabbed Dak by the shoulder pad. Dak did not have time to step to the side. This was from Morris not doing his job I believe, he overran to the wrong side.
This is why they need DMC in there as backup and not Morris.

But yes, other than that, he was non-existent.

The sack by Vernon was on what was supposed to be a screen look where Dak looked right, then left, then went back to the delayed screen to the right, but the oline (I think it was Zack Martin) didn't bump Vernon hard enough off the snap to slow him down, so he basically got a free release and just took Dak down.

That would be a possibility, especially if he plays like he deserves to be paid like one of the best DEs in the league. I hate to lose him if he does, but it's also a risk with his injury issues to give him a big long-term deal. Having him prove it for a second consecutive year might be the way to go.

There certainly is a lot of risk involved, but if he has a monster year, I think you've got to take it in some form. The best way might be a prove-it franchise tag.

The Cowboys can free up some cap space by getting a long term deal done with Zack Martin. If they can get that done before free agency next year, they should have plenty of cash available to franchise Lawrence.
