Nope...the 3.5 YPC doesn't go down because we started passing the ball more.

You obviously don't know how to read because I never said the run game was great or dominant. I said it was fine as in good enough. The Cowboys don't need to be a dominant running team especially with the weapons they have offensively and an improved defense when healthy.

Or rueing, like we did when BAL snagged that undersized DE everybody was in love with a few camps back. These bottom roster guys are all distant long shots, but it's still fun to go prospecting and hope you hit gold.

Adrian Hamilton. He's still out there too.

I agree. We do need our QB back. The guy who is good enough to lead us to points even when our running game is non existent.

It seems like we have been reduced to putting this all on Romo.
I guess we now know why Romo and Dez wanted Demarco back.
In the meantime we will be making excuses week after week to explain our running games fall from grace.

It was always all on Romo, don't kid yourself. This is a passing differential league. The running game exists to get us into passing situations, or to avoid passing altogether when we've already had a good day passing. What teams have proven this season is they can shut down your running game if they really want to, and that they really want to v. Dallas, because we can't beat them with the pass.

Oh, and that our OL is a bit overrated so far, unfortunately.

Fwiw, I have read that mcfadden will take over Dunbar's role.

Yeah, you just need to hear the Joneses talk about expectations for him with Tony back to know he's a fixture for 2015. Oh, well, perhaps he'll prove to be worth the touches at some point. At least he's catching the ball well enough for us.

Overrated? That's a bit harsh. I don't see any offensive line having success when you don't have a threat at quarterback. Even with Dez out there last year against Arizona it didn't matter because they didn't respect Weeden. Same thing this year.

While that's true, I'm not talking primarily about pass protection. In the running game, they're getting beat. ATL was blowing up the interior, of all places. Free, unable to sustain blocks. The HB can't dig LBs out of holes. Leary, getting marched back into Weeden's dumbfounded lap. Inside stunts not getting picked up early in the year. Smith getting beat by a rookie--coverage downfield or not. We're good overall, in my opinion. If we're the best line in football right now, something's wrong.

Reading isn't the challenge. You should try it sometime. I clearly said 80 yards and 3.5 YPC isn't "just fine" by my standards. Now please show me where I said or implied that you said the run game was great or dominant. Good luck.

I agree that the run game doesn't need to be dominant when we have Romo and Dez ect....however in case you missed the news, we don't have them and have dropped 3 straight games where our running game could have been our backbone until they return...they tried to lean on it...it just wasn't strong enough to hold them up. So here we are...2-3 and fans wondering if Romo will be coming back to 2-7.

Chrun baby churn.

So many around here complaining about RB corp should give the FO some credit for bring in Michael and now Smith. At least we aren't sitting still. We're making moves and addressing the situation.

Yep.

But this to me is too little too late.

I mean many of us questioned not bringing back Murray..

and many of us were not comfortable with paying Dez all the money he wanted.

Now he's out and not contributimg__

And I just find it to be too arrogant to have done nothing substantive to rebuild the RB position.

As important as the running game was to Romo's longevity and success..

and to the passing game for selling play action..

and to the defense for keeping them off the field so as not to be exposed there..

our coaches have coached like last year never happened.

No reality about how the redesign of the team was going to blow up our chemistry.

RB should never have been our Achilles Heel.

Rod Smith has the measurables. It's a fair starting point. Let's see if he's good enough to earn playing time.

He's been a pretty good ST guy in the past, so it's entirely possible that's his "ace in the hole."

Saw him last run a play last Sunday while watching the Seattle game, he looked pretty good. I'm surprised they waived him and don't think they're thrilled we picked him up. They probably were hoping they could get him back to the practice squad.

I could be wrong though.

FWIW, SEA fans are at least disappointed that he got snagged. I have low regard for the player evaluation talent of the average internet fan, but it's always disappointing to go to the message board of the team you just snagged a player from and to have everybody doing high-fives.

Maybe those are the fans that don't know what the hell they are talking about....

We have our own share of Internet GMs, they have theirs....
