Man maybe we shouldve kept Thorton around.

Thornton never fit onto this scheme and that's how Paea beat him out. I think the knee injury and a couple losses might've gotten into Paea's head a little bit. The Cowboys haven't made a move with him yet roster-wise and may give him time over the bye to reconsider.

The players are getting berated by people on social media for not standing up to Jerry. There's a report that they're getting called out by family members too. Well done Jerry. From 13-3 to this.
Because he thinks he can manipulate these players but it's 2017 now.....it's a different time now than a few years ago.

Considering that he was having knee issues during training camp, and they broke camp with 3 defensive tackles on the 53 man roster, I would say that they didn't plan well at all. They didn't manage the DT position well. It has been shown on the field, and now they are down another body. Thornton, at the very least, gave them an option to fill the position that they were going to pay for whether he was on the roster or not. Knowing that Paea had a knee issue going into the season, and allowing the depth at the position to be razor thin was a mistake by the front office.
Our DEs all play DT.

I warned you all. People don't want to play with Prescott.

It's why Zack Martin stopped his contract negotiations too.

I said "we" knew he sucked... the fans. The FO bargain bin shopped for defensive FAs-- what else is new? Lol

I just never considered Carroll a difference maker-- so I can care less if the FO cuts bait with him at this point.

This team will go as far as Dak and the offense can take it. The defense needs to be protected by a time control offense... Carroll and Paea weren't gonna change that

So we suck top to bottom then. I wasn't talking about the fan base...

US knowing it means nothing. It's the coaching staff that needs to realize this. So, I have no idea what you're arguing against.

We are lacking true talent at a lot of key positions, and a lot of players we used to think were good aren't living up to their reputation or seem to be leaving their peak years.

Right now it seems we have a lot of players who are mediocre/good, but lacking special players. Sucks since last year got a lot of people's hopes up, but we are simply just not a good team.

Collins started there against Green Bay with Irving at 3-tech, so I suspect that's the way it will remain. Crawford at RDE, Irving at 3-tech, Collins at 1-tech and Lawrence at LDE, with Price, Mayowa, Moore and Charlton rotating in.

I like this except for Crawford at RDE. But it would be awesome if Collins can be a legitimate 1T so we could have two pass rushers on the inside.

Dude's knee was bad. Couldn't practice and was a zilch in games after what was reportedly a good camp. Hopefully McClay and staff can find someone that's not awful to play the 1Tech.

I'm guessing Price will get the start.

We got into this "not signing high priced fa" thing, you can have a philosophy but don't take it to the extreme. You have to have leaders with experience, that's why we're suffering in the secondary. The kids are talented but they are just kids.
As far as safety, there has to be someone between Heath and Earl Thomas that they could've signed.

You don't need leaders on defense. You need talent and coaching. We have enough talent but the coaching is very suspect on defense.

I'm arguing against your assertion that the roster sucks from top to bottom.

Franchise QB.
Franchise RB.
3 All Pro OL including the top LT in NFL
Solid WR corps, TE
Most accurate PK in history
Great LB in Lee
Leading pass rusher in 2017

Do we have holes-- particularly on defense? Yes. Does the loss of Carroll and Paea make a difference to W/L record this year? No.

Should the FO spend more money on defensive FAs? I think so but that's an opinion.

What I am taking issue with is your seeming connection to Carroll and Paea leaving the team and equating that with our roster sucking from top to bottom.

If you want to blast the FO for not signing more FAs or for signing Carroll and Paea to begin with -- be my guest.

But if your conclusion is that our roster sucks from top to bottom-- you lose me.
