This is simply not true.

It cannot be just any stiff. Marinelli has to like that stiff thanks to their non-stop motor and quick twitch.

I have a vision of Marinelli standing in the grocery line with a stop watch, timing guys on how fast they bag the groceries.

All hail McClay. And Marinelli. Sweet signing.

Meanwhile Thornton is doing just fine in Buffalo.

Is it me or has literally every major player we let go from the last year's defense doing much better with their new team - Claiborne, Carr, Church, Thornton........... how's Wilcox doing?

And I am not even suggesting they go out and blow a crap ton of money in FA or a 1st round pick on a 1 tech. But there would seem to be a middle ground between the Nick Haydens/Stephen Paea's/playing guys out of position there and then spending a bazillion dollars on such a guy.

Sure there is. But many fans can't see any middle ground. It's absolutely one way, or absolutely the other. No in-between.

I'd start evaluating that position immediately. See how Price is performing, bring up Ash. See what you have and go from there.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Tampa cut him, I think the Steelers signed him to be a reserve.

From Schefter on twitter right now:

Cowboys’ DT Stephen Paea told Dallas coaches today that he is retiring, per source.

Crazy, I know ...

Wow, another amazing development.

Who were all the laughable posters on here telling me I was a mean person because I didnt think this guy was going to turn around our defense?

Next year we will go out and get more scrubs in FA and I will have to hear it all over again.

It's not about being on the ledge. It's about admitting reality. This team believes any grocery bagging stiff who weighs around 300 lbs can be a 1 tech for us.

Maybe we should aspire to get some better, more competent players there in the future instead of the yearly band aid that Marinelli seems to love.
Hey man. I pounded the table for Jalen.

Don't talk to me about band aids.

Meanwhile everyone said we needed a top 4 rb.

Meanwhile in our last game Alex Jones looked like the best rb in thr stadium. Where did Kareem Hunt go again? Jordan Howard? Jay Ajayi? Blah blah blah.

So sick and tired of people praising the Zeke pick who are mad as hell at our defense and secondary play.

This will take time due to the previous years of under investment.

You and I were on that island with Elliott.

I'd still go Ramsey and then draft a TB later. But that ship has long sailed.

I am growing tired, however, of Marinelli's belief his system can compensate for the fact he doesn't think he needs quality players at certain positions.

I'm not sure it's all on Rod. We're playing with how many first rounders on offense? How many on defense? Organizational philosophy predating Rod.

Here's some food for thought:

  • I’ve read many claim the struggles of the defense are predictable because the Cowboys front office has failed to invest “resources” on that side of the ball. That’s not exactly true. Consider, five of the teams last six first- or second-round draft picks have been on defense. Those five players are contributing very little:

The problem hasn’t been a lack of investment on defense. The problem has been investments in players who simply haven’t been as good as expected thus far. Jones has been acceptable but not the dynamic player many hoped for. The Gregory pick is a complete bust. Smith is nearly a year and a half into his rookie contract and has made one play. Charlton is a first-round pick who’s having problems getting on the field and Awuzie seems to have a perpetually pulled hamstring.

Look at the times of those investments. When your argument is that the defense should be good because 40 percent of the 5 guys you mentioned are 1st and 2nd round rookies and another 1st rounder is essentially a rookie playing his first real NFL football.... Well you're making my point. 60 percent of the defenders on that list are playing nfl football for the first time.

Look at when our offensive guys were selected and when they peaked.

I don't remember one person saying he was going to turn the Cowboys defense around.

Yah, it must have been a collective thing.............Like "Taco, heath, the rookies, Jaylon, Paea, Carroll, further development from Jones, bla bla bla............"

I had argues that the scrubs we signed at DT were not of equal replacement of the guys we lost. But of course you wouldnt remember that one as it wasnt you.
