Can anyone tell me when the Cowboys traded an aging player or contract?
That is the real killjoy to practically everything.

Even if they decided, you know what? This player has had suspensions, back injuries and has been out of shape before. Let's just move him.

We are intellectually incapable of executing an advantageous trade of their own. They value their own incorrectly, overvalue mostly and then end up cutting them or hanging onto them for that extra year.

Yep, that and this bombastic attitude that we are smarter than everyone else.

Then who's the leader of your locker room. Who's the leader of your defense? That's just not sound thinking to me, unless you're Steven Jones and you're trying to get Jason Garrett fired.
lol....leader in the locker room.....they are fine with Van Jaylon

I gotta say I enjoyed following this debate between you and @Future.
Both of you shaped an understandable version on a topic that is
not easily understandable... lol.

What I enjoy most was how both of you handled it start to finish.
I just wanted to give you both an "attaboy" for showing how it's done, with some class.
thanks..... I don't get that part right often enough

Cool, DLaw just got a big payday. W/ the 16 or so million he got last year, dude can retire and live rich for the rest of his life. He's really happy, right?

38m over 2 years doesn't sound too insulting to me..... that is generational money

And he is still a FA after 2019

It’s kinda funny to me, though. He gets tagged simply because they didn’t reach a deal before the league’s established deadline. It guarantees him 20.5 million for one year (1!), and he’ll act insulted because the FO just didn’t fall down with their legs in the air.
The main point in these negotiations from the players point of view is long term deals with a large guarantee to protect against career threatening injuries. And for obvious reasons, this is exactly what owners don't want. Having to pay a player when he can no longer play. Under the tag his money is fully guaranteed, but if his career ends due to injury, it will be his last payday.

Sure, I get it, although a “last payday” of 20.5 mill wouldn’t break my heart!

I keep reading this is simply to buy us time?

What the heck have we been doing all off-season?
Running the numbers on DAK, Zeke, Cooper, Beasley, Witten, Jones, Lee, Gregory and the next big Real Estate venture in Jones' architects office.

That sucks up the Dinero and your free time.

I swear some of our fans believe in Socialism when it comes to football. DLaw has played his tail off for the last two years and deserves a big market value contract. The franchise tag has screwed him. Look at how the tag screwed Enziel Ansah. He got hurt and will never get his big payday. The tag screws the players and I would sit out a season before I would play under it.
Ya,it's a shame his "tail" was pretty much a G.D. non factor till then ,huh?o_O

This in a nutshell.

Which explains exactly why the Cowboys and the Patriots are where they are now and for the better part of the last two decades.

Trade his butt, not worth 20+ a year no way in heck
If Dlaw is not worth 20 which is easily the market then there is no chance we keep Zeke, Dak, Jaylon, LVE, Jones
If you aren’t willing to pay market value then you better be able to hit on 4-5 picks every year because you aren’t keeping your best players
