Head might be a little too far up Jerruh's rear.

3 Super Bowls in 4 years will also spoil the pure t **** out of fans and make them lose sight of exactly how hard it is to win in this league. There are 31 other teams ya know?

How do you think the Eagles fans feel?

Since 2006 this team has been competitive and outside of the first half of last year has been able to beat any team on any given Sunday. Remember beating the undefeated Colts and the Bears, both teams that played in the Super Bowl in 2006. Also beating the 2007 champs by 10+ points two times in the regular season. Then in 2008 losing to the Super Bowl champion Steelers by 3 and the NFC champ Cardinals in overtime. Then lets not forget the 'we dat' game in New Orleans in 2009 when we went and beat the future Super Bowl champions.

We aren't that far away, trust me.

Dude, call it what you want. I just love the team and don't cry about every move they make.. Grow up!!!

damn I didn't check this thread for a couple hours its amazing the negativity that comes out. It does look like alot of money and I was kinda taken back with an extension already but obviously in rob ryan system they think he's going to be a stud and want to lock him up. I honestly would like to see him start opposite Jenkins and see what this defense can do

So he has low YPA but gives up a ton of touchdowns. If he's going to continue to be a redzone mismatch than I dont know if he's a starter.

Although the NFC east doesn't have many big wr's

Well said. Oh and those 2009 Saints were undeated at the time.

So many here feel the need to harp on what they think we don't have and haven't done when it's clear this team has so much of the hardest stuff to find needed to win.

When you're a final 8 team, you're there. And we've been there 2 ofthe last 4 seasons yet so many here have a hard time seeing us back in contention this year.

Our biggest problem on defense is a line that can't hold it's ground or create a push... I would have like Cullen Jenkins instead with that money...

Really. And maybe those same moaners might want to point out just how many Cowboy drafted or developed players are building up a team depth, but at an annual price tag of from $1.5 M - $2 M a year. And that leaves some room to maneuver to get dynasty changing players for hire or to sign the Cowboys' own when they are Prime Time themselves.

For starters, refresh on verb conjugations..

But one almost always gets farther and faster down the road to a dynasty by building from within. This past draft, where there were a large number of defensive lineman...the Cowboys took a quality offensive tackle. What? That suddenly is an albatross in your own thinking as well?

his inconsistent play certainly hasn't warranted this contract but hes talented enough to live up to it. I keep hearing about how well hes practiced but in actual game situations he hasn't been the most reliable

If he has really has improved this off-season along with Ryan's scheme which loves blitzing corners he could be in for a very productive season. I sure hope so or well be talking about this deal for the next few years

Locking up Scandrick now a smart move
By Todd Archer

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4682602/locking-up-scandrick-now-a-smart-move

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Cowboys’ decision to give Orlando Scandrick a five-year extension worth $5 million a year suggests he will be a starter, if not this year, in the near future.

With so much uncertainty at the position, it was a wise move to wrap up Scandrick now so he cannot test the undrafted market next year. Terence Newman is signed through 2014, but there were questions this year whether he would be a salary-cap casualty. The other starter, Mike Jenkins, is signed through 2012.

Cornerback should remain a draft priority every year, but by getting Scandrick in the fold, the Cowboys do not have to be desperate next April or make a huge splash in free agency...

He hasn't proven himself worthy of a contract this size, plain and simple. If he manages to prove himself worthy of a starting position this year or next, it'll turn out to be a prudent move. I think that's a big if, however. If nothing else, it's in keeping with this team's tendency to overpay unproven players in the oft ill-founded hope of saving money in the longrun. This, to me, exemplifies one reason why we're in trouble with the cap. We'll see how it goes. I'm hoping we'll get lucky this time but I wouldn't want to bet on it.

Finally someone who is reacting without his blue and silver shades on.

Some posters on this site will defend Jerry at any costs even if this was a 100M contract.

And your point on Ryan is true. I can't for the life of me understand why so many people on here are so certain Ryan is our savior on defense? Is it just bc of the Ryan name? The same people on here who have complained for 3 yrs about scandrick's poor play (rightfully so), are all of a sudden defending this horrendous over valuation of a signing just bc of a Ryan cosign. Why don't we let Ryan win a few games and earn that trust sheeesh.

Agreed, for all we know, Ryan could be the biggest disaster this team has ever invested and IMO, Scandrick is the biggest reason other teams were converting on 3rd downs (passing situations).

I dont know...Im hoping for the best, I want them to both succeed, but Im worried.

Scandrick is not Asoumgha. His play on the field has not warranted this kind of commitment from the team at this point. Just another Jerry move.

 You are aware that Asoumgha is making $12M this year and Scandrick is making only $2M this year? You could have six Scandricks (at the age of 24) for what the Eagles are paying for one Asoumgha (at the age of 30)

This is the truth. Jerry cannot manage the cap properly - here he overpaid.

By not re-signing Free in the middle of last year when he had proved he could handle the LT slot, he ended up paying more than he needed to.

He similarly overpaid Bigg, RoyW (also overpaid in picks for an upcoming FA), Flo (too old) and TNew (too old to give than long of a deal to).
