"Out of nowhere, Schottenheimer interviewed this week twice and now takes over for Mike McCarthy. More than a decade as an OC, Schottenheimer is an HC."

Look I have to be honest I had Schottenheimer as like the 10th choice to be head coach of the Dallas Cowboys so there's that.

10th? That’s pretty generous to what most had. He wasn’t even considered or on the radar

Like others have mentioned, you dont bury the lead with a 10 PM Friday news dump if you think the reaction is going to be positive.

The FO knows this is not going to be very popular........................among fans and media outlets.

What’s interesting is, a previous coworker is a nephew of Marty. They all reside in Maryland and are all die hard commanders fans lol

Should make for some holiday banter

Please don't follow in your father's footsteps.

Marty was a HC for 28 seasons. He is one of only eight HC's in history to win 200 or more games.....the only one of the eight never to go to an NFL championship game (pre-merger) or Super Bowl.

Similar to Wade Phillips, I believe he will be HC in name only. He's going to be, basically a glorified coordinator. It will be interesting to see if Jones replaces him as the OC with someone else. Don't assume that he will. Wade Phillips had to double as the DC.

Schottenheimer is fully qualified. He actually wanted the job.

Brian Stewart was calling our defense in 2007 and 2008 before Wade took the playcalling back from him. That was a Wade, not Jerry decision.

Welp. I can only hope Shotty gets a lot more from this team than the last several coaches since Jimmy.

Dak has no excuses! Without a doubt this was a hiring fueled by Dak and his comfort level with Brian. Zero excuses!

So no matter how much of a trash roster we have..... Dak has no excuses huh... I love the set up. It's funny because I've heard all kinds of excuses for other quarterbacks like, "they play on a bad team", "they're team was badly injured", "they had bad coaching".

Those are the excuses I've heard for Stafford when he was with the Lions, the excuses ive heard for Barrows this season, the excuses we're currently hearing for Justin Herbert, and I can't wait to hear the new excuses for Lamar Jackson.

With that said, I've heard all of these excuses for the quarterbacks I've mentioned and there are a few others. But you're saying no matter what happens from injuries, lack of offensive talent, unproven head coach who doesn't have play calling experience and a trash *** front office....

Dak has absolutely no excuses?

It's truly amazing to hear how 1st and 2nd round drafted quarterbacks can get more excuses due to injury, lack of offensive talent, bad coaching and bad management, than a 4th round drafted quarterback and expected to do more with less than 1st and 2nd round drafted quarterbacks when you've been drafted in the 4th round.

Interesting....
