Solid but postively unspectacular player at the SDE spot.

He's a rotational guy, which we could use.

It's going to be interesting to see if we try to address the pass rush in free agency. If we don't, I think that screams Bosa at 4 or a trade down for Spence.

We're going to have 8 rotational guys on the DL. That's the platoon (military) way that Marinelli like to run his defense. I think most
of the guys Marinelli wants are either 2 down (1st-2nd) or 3rd down rotation guys. Marinelli doesn't like to change and that's one reason
Hayden will likely be back in the rotation.

Maybe because other teams are concentrating on the bigger fish, which means the demand for him would not be high right now?

I don't necessarily feel it's about "waves" but rather price hunting. While teams are going back and forth fighting monetarily for Mario, we might can wrap up Clayborn because other teams aren't fighting to get him.

You don't think prices drop when teams have spent their money the first couple of weeks and the jobs are more scarce for the available free agents left?

Isn't this why there's a 2nd wave of FA and bargains can and have been had?

This smells like a PR spin to me.

Would be on board with an incentive based deal for Clayborn... If you put up great numbers, you get paid. If you failed to do so, then you will get bare minimum.

Nothing wrong with adding depth at this position

That's what he did in Atlanta last year. I think he gets one to two years max.

Im fine with bringing Clayborn in as a replacement for Mincey but not as a replacement for Hardy...

True. Clayborn is fine as a backup SDE. But the team still needs 2 starting caliber additions on the DL. Possibly a draft pick in RD 1 or 2 but we need another in FA. We'll soon find out in the next 3-5 days.

We already have a bunch of them. We probably only go 10 deep on the DL and already have 6.

DLaw, Russell -SDE
TCrawford, Irving -3T
McClain -1T
Gregory -WDE

We need another 1T, 3T and WDE or 2.

In a word, yes.

Some people also believe that we are seriously considering Pierre-Paul, Janoris Jenkins, Lamar Miller, etc.

N aren't those people crazy as hell? I mean who in their right mind would want to sign good-to-great, young, talented players that could help this team win more football games?!

Its 4 games not 12. Stop being dense.

It's four games right now, but I fear we're early in the offseason and Gregory has more mistakes coming. I'd think it would be foolish to rely on him. I hope I'm wrong but I'd be surprised if he plays next year, by the time the season rolls around he will get caught puffing again. Gregory reminds me more of Randall than Scandrick.

Again I have nothing to base this on but a gut feeling and fear that Gregory hasn't learned anything.

But I think the FO has it's work cut out for it through the draft and FA to replace Mincey's and Gregory's combined sack total of 0.

Prices can drop, but they can also go up when the top-tier free agents are no longer on the market. A fringe player can go from drawing little interest to teams bidding heavily for his services. There are not enough free agents to go around to make jobs scarce at some positions. Nor is it likely that all teams interested in getting a DE will be tapped out.

However, there may already be too much interest in Clayborn based on remdak's post and Dallas would be wise not to get into a bidding war for a middle-tier FA.

I've never seen that happen. Can you give an example of a player's price increasing weeks after free agency started? Because it flies in the face of history and common sense.
