I'm not sure what to think at this point. We may not know whether to laugh or cry when their decision is made public. The pickings are slim and getting slimmer by the minute. I wouldn't be too surprised if it's Michael Vick that gets christened our new backup QB.

Some of these QBs are going to be cut roll with showers and dak and see who gets cut in a few weeks. None of these guys are worth trading picks or players for imo.

That's my thinking too.

After low-balling these other quarterbacks, do you want to pay Josh McCown $4 million and have to give up draft compensation to do it?

As for Glennon, he would cost significantly more in draft compensation or player trade, and he's set to become a free agent next year. Some he's either a one year rental, or acquiring him would force you to change your long-term quarterback decisions on the fly.

I don't see either of those as particularly enticing options.

Agree 100%. Give the kid some quality time and wait for the old fruit to drop from the tree and pick up the best one available.

Get real..if we going with old QB's just get Vick in here. I'm reporting any non-football related responses so save yourself the trouble.
I agree with 100 percent. Wick or someone else but don't trade for McCown or any other back up. We need to use our trade chips for a DE or DT

The latest rumor from PFT:

Report: Cowboys like Josh McCown, Browns “reluctant” to trade

Ugh!

I don't have an issue with the player, but after going cheap at the position the entire offseason, now they're willing to pay $4 million for one year and give up compensation to do it?

Any homers out there, please feel free to step up and waste your time trying to defend this.

This is the part where we let Ron Leary go for nothing.

Should consider trading Leary and maybe a pick to the Bucs for Glennon. He's just wasting away on their roster.

I though about that, but the Bucs drafted Ali Marpet high and paid JR Sweezy $32 million to play left guard. Sweezy is coming off of back surgery however and is currently on PUP. Not sure what level of interest they would have in Leary.

I would not trade Leary for any backup QB. From all reports, Leary has been ballin out at TC and has been smashing everyone.
He came to camp in great shape and will most likely be active to most games this year.

Most likely the Chiefs will let Aaron Murray go sooner rather than later and it seems the
Jets are likely to part company with Bryce Petty before the season starts. We can get
some young blood to compete and just let the chips fall where they may. If Romo goes
down we are done and everyone knows it.

What suggests we should put our faith in Stephen Jones?

Not faith. Jerry listens to him now though. Stephen is holding he purse strings pretty tight these days. Could be
one of the reasons most big name players are interested in coming to Dallas. Not offering those outlandish contracts
any longer. We're also not that attractive a team anymore as we haven't been to a championship game in over 20
years.

What the solution here? Stay with Showers and the rookie?

And wait for a cut or take a look at another free agent like Yates or Matt Flynn. I'd much prefer that to getting pantsed by a broom feeder team like Cleveland or Tampa Bay because they know you're stupid and desperate.

You wouldn't pay Matt Moore $3.5 million for two years, don't pay McCown $4 million for one and give up compensation to do it. That's dumb.

You wouldn't "give away" Ron Leary before, don't suddenly do it now. That's dumb.

Exactly. No need to get super desperate for a backup QB
