I wouldn't spend a nickel to bring him here...... let him battle it out for a backup position most likely. We desperately need competition and depth.

Couldn't get on the field for one of the worst secondaries in football last year.

Rumor has it they were keeping his playing time down to lessen the number of snaps so their trade compensation to Philadelphia was lower.

I am more concerned why the Panthers were so turned off that they cut him a short time after signing him in free agency this offseason and decided to give reps to rookies. The medical might explain that.

No........He told Cam that he can not do the Superman thing if he's gonna act like a three year old.

Cam slapped him , picked up all his toys and went and told the coach.

Still confused about why Boykin isn't signed. Dude's only 25. There's speculation about a degenerative hip condition, but signing him to a short term contract would really shore up our CB position.

This is the reason it won't happen.

Would be interested to see what's actually going on with this guy, and why he hasn't been able to keep or find a job more recently.

Within the last year:

- The Eagles traded him to the Steelers, and he had trouble getting on the field with the Steelers despite their need.

- The Panthers signed him & reportedly only guaranteed him $80,000. Then they drafted CB's in the 2nd, 3rd (on a trade up), & 5th rounds, & released Boykin. That was also after rescinding the tag on Norman.

- Atlanta brought him in for a workout, but passed. Falcons HC Dan Quinn reportedly said he looked "rocked up" and showed some speed, but wanted to wait on medical reports before making a decision. http://espn.go.com/blog/atlanta-fal...lcons-not-signing-brandon-boykin-at-this-time

I've read some regarding the rumors of a hip issue: http://www.steelersdepot.com/2016/06/carnell-lake-brandon-boykin-degenerative-hip-condition/

Despite starting 7 games in his career while largely playing from the slot...Boykin has 8 Int's, 37 passes defensed, & 5 forced fumbles.

I am going to go out on a limb here and surmise that there werent any suitors or not very many considering he is still unsigned. But no doubt I will get chastised because "there is no way I can know that for sure" :lmao2:

He actually signed with the Panthers and then was released.

Something is amiss. The hip must be scaring teams off. Not a great player but serviceable and young.

I'm sure we are all very proud of you for overcoming the horrible abuse and chastisement you have received here. No doubt this mistreatment was dished out for No Reason Whatsoever.

Back to the topic, I remember eagles fans being surprised and somewhat upset when Chip shipped him off to the Steelers last year. They were talking about how he was statistically one of the best slot corners in the league. NFL people don't seem to see it that way however. Could be a case where the stats lie and he just isn't that good.

Kicking some tires here and the best FA left left at rhia point. Then add in the depth behind Mo and Carr we really have zero depth.

The Cowboys will meet with free-agent cornerback Brandon Boykin, according to sources. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers in March and cut in May. He had one interception last year with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being traded by the Philadelphia Eagles.

There must be some attitude issues for that to happen or he just really sucked in OTAs.

That is not why.

He's trying to draw a comparison to Rolando McClain from a discussion in another thread.

Only that comparison is irrelevant, and he ended up just embarrassing himself by being apparently completely unfamiliar with the circumstances surrounding this player, too.

Yep. It's probably relating to the injury. He's too good a player not to be on somebody's roster otherwise.
