In the bleeding green article (linked earlier in this thread by Common Sense), Carnell Lake (the Steelers DB coach) said that Boykin "could hardly run". He said the Pitt Doctors didn't pick up on it. Said that he has a "degenerative hip condition: One leg is longer than the other." Lake said he "felt bad for him."

o_O

Lake said that since he was off the team he could now talk about it.

Has returned more kickoffs in NFL. But look at these college return and rushing stats (especially "only player in SEC history with three 100-yard plays"):

*7 kickoff returns vs. No. 12 South Carolina in 2011
*187 kickoff return yards vs. S. Carolina in 2009
*Long kickoff return of 100 yards (3x), last at Kentucky in 2010
*1 kickoff return TD (4x), last at Kentucky in 2010
*Long punt return of 92 yards vs. No. 12 Michigan St. in 2011
*1 punt return TD of 92 yards vs. No. 12 Michigan St. in 2011
*2 carries vs. No. 12 South Carolina in 2011
*80 rushing yards vs. No. 5 Boise St. in 2011
*Long rush of 80 yards vs. No. 5 Boise St. in 2011
*1 rushing TD vs. No. 5 Boise State in 2011
*Long TD rush of 80 yards vs. No. 5 Boise St. in 2011
*1 reception (5x), last vs. Michigan State in 2011
*42 receiving yards vs. New Mexico St. in 2011
*Long reception of 42 yards vs. New Mexico St. in 2011
*1 receiving TD (2x), last vs. No. 12 Michigan St. in 2011
*Long TD reception of 42 yards vs. New Mexico St. in 2011
Career: UGA leader in career kickoff returns yards with 2,663 (110 ret.), which ranks second in SEC history.
*Only player in SEC history with three 100-yard plays (of any kind)

I sincerely hope you copied and pasted this.

Nice info though.

Seems that a respectable coach would just leave it alone. Especially since the player is still active. He seems too good to not be on a roster somewhere.

Yeah, I don't disagree. I'm sure all the teams know about it anyway, so it probably doesn't hurt his chances... but still pretty personal to be throwing that out to the press. Even just the local Pittsburgh media (which I think it was).

This development should serve as proof positive that the Cowboys' staff is "beating the bushes" in a desperate attempt to find and sign a reasonably respectable cornerback. Boykin appears to be the last available CB to possibly fall into that category.

If and when healthy, Boykin has proven capable of contributing respectable play. Of course, the "if and when healthy" designation is a key qualifier.

Let's just say if any team has proven itself willing to take an outside chance on someone with questionable health concerns, the Cowboys are, without question, serious contenders for that distinction.

ThIs could be a really risky signing. Let's stay away and not evaluate him and how much he could help our team.

I don't see much risk to giving him a shot a providing needed depth. He's also a proven playmaker In limited opportunities which everyone agrees we need.

What is the risk? That a couple of posters on here think he's done?

I'm sure we are all very proud of you for overcoming the horrible abuse and chastisement you have received here. No doubt this mistreatment was dished out for No Reason Whatsoever.

Back to the topic, I remember eagles fans being surprised and somewhat upset when Chip shipped him off to the Steelers last year. They were talking about how he was statistically one of the best slot corners in the league. NFL people don't seem to see it that way however. Could be a case where the stats lie and he just isn't that good.

Seeing as though you have only had 43 posts since 2009 I'm going to go out on another limb and say you're either too scared to post or your rarely around. Which makes your comment laughable and unreliable.

Stick around long enough and unless you are complete homer you will learn quite quickly who gets what right around here and who looks foolish year after year.

Oh I'm pretty sure I've already learned.
