And those of us who see his value wish you guys would stop with the "he can't be good another season". He did what no one has done in a very long time.
He did it with out taking huge amounts of huge hits. The is no reason he can't be a very productive back again. Other than RBs before him fell off.
If we have the best O line in the NFL, than Murray should have another great season.
I just can't wait for the issue to go away a this point.

People keep saying Murray didn't take big hits.

Repeatedly saw him lower his shoulder and fight for extra inches when he didn't have to.

All that's besides the point.

Give me someone younger.... Cheaper.... And who has a 3rd gear.

Please explain to me what is not special about 1800 yards. And before youy tell me this was the liner, keep in mind what Zach Martin said about green grass and making contact.

The idea he is not special just makes my head want to explode.

The line he got it behind and the execution of the zone blocking system is what is special. He fumbles to much and is not durable enough to be special IMO.

Randle, oh wait, he's probably going to do a little jail time.

AP don't lower his shoulder? Murray dealt more punishment than he took. There is a difference.

Name our RBs from Emmitt to Murray. They sound a lot like the QBs from troy till Tony.

That is the real issue here.

If Dallas wants to build on the 2014 season and be a "running team", they need a good back.

You can't have that by either spending on your own, in free agency or devote draft resources

It is not going to replicate itself strictly by the OL alone.

You lost me. You can't have a good running game next season by bringing back Murray?

I never said AD doesn't take big hits.

And I'm sorry we are talking collisions. It doesn't matter whether you initiated contact.

No, people are just assuming we can just do whatever and the run game will be fine. The emphasis on the run game will need to continue. If it is not Murray, it will command a real resource, either the draft or another vet free agent. We cannot afford to take a step backwards there while claiming letting Murray go is a step forward.

I agree that Murray's not special. He's good at everything though. The bigger issue is his number of carries from last season. He won't be the same good player next season.

Exactly.....

With the number of carries he had....he should have broke 2000. But he wore down.

Paying for past production always gets teams in trouble. He's a nice guy...model citizen...but this is a business. Time to find an upgrade.

I really doubt he does jail time even if the accusations stick. Some suspension time is the real possibility. But it's still a weak argument on whether to keep Murray at a huge cap hit or not.

Can you prove this. Conjecture don't make it so.

Nothing more than the charts of what's happened to other backs following similar carries in preceding seasons that have been posted in the other threads on this topic already.

I think that evidence is sufficient, personally. I don't need to prove that it will definitely happen. It's enough that it's likely to happen.

Especially when, if we get a replacement who gets even half of Murray's YAC, we'll still have a productive rushing game based on nothing more than our expected yards before contact with this talented OL.

I define special as a playmaker. Michael Irvin was slow compared to other WR. Emmitt use to kid him about not being able to get to the endzone. But he brought a will to win that infused the team.

The teammates of Murray talk\ about his leadership and skill. They believe he is special. I side with them. Your assertion about power and speed is interesting. The pile moves the direction he is running most times. He gets the dirty yards. And speed is relative. I'd rather have a guy that can move the sticks and play tough than a guy that can wiggle and gets stuffed.

Long runs are beautiful. Moving the sticks on third and short is what wins.

Emmitt scored a lot of TD's from inside the 5 after Michael made a big catch...

He also has had way less carries than Emmitt had in his first four years. I don't see why Murray can't be a 1400 yard back here for the next few seasons if he stays healthy.

I think he ultimately returns at a fair but not record breaking deal. Both parties will benefit. At any rate I do feel a lot better about his return the more we get into the offseason.

Got you. I feel the same way. Murrays success lead to Romos best year.

If he was waving a gun around and that's if. He will see some time. There was a kid present.

I don't get it. He's been a consistent player keeping his ypc about the same all the time. It seems like some want him gone just to get their boy in the mix.

I'd be willing to bet that Michael Irvin had the most catches stopped at the 1 yard line... It happened so much that it was comical...
Damn fantasy football... I had Irvin and some dude had Emmitt and wouldn't trade him to me for all the tea in China.
