Cowboys reach 2yr deal w/ LB Jasper Brinkley

Justin Durant signing a few years back didn't blow anybody away either...obviously Marinelli has other plans for him. I trust in the process.

That's just not true. We could readily afforded all of those players. We didn't want to overpay them. You should be pleased we didn't give in to the temptation.

Stating the obvious isn't complaining. Stating the obvious and ignoring the fact that every single signifiacnt addition we're intending to make hasn't happened yet is where the problem comes in. It's like complaining your cake tastes too soupy when you haven't even put the batter into the oven yet. Sure, it's obvious, but it's not real criticism. It's just nervous energy and impatience.

I guess I am wondering where is the batter coming from? There is only so much batter you get from a Draft..... I think are cake may be a tad soupy next year...? But we have excellent Chefs in the HC, OC, and DC....:)

I think this is a good signing- he is not terrible- Remember Durant was very average a few years ago before he had a good start to this year.

I'm putting my trust in the FO- no more bad contracts ad no more overpaying for past performance- this is a formula that good franchises follow and what we seem to be following.

The overreaction of just 2 days of free agency is in full force.

The Cowboys already put tags upon, or resigned all of the players that they thought they could do without.

My guess, is that the two linebackers just signed, are purely for depth and injury possibilities. That leaves me as Rolando McClain as being the next of the Cowboys' own free agents that is in the cross, but even here, his need doesn't overshadow the expense of a loose attempt to resign him. I'm very curious as to his route back for now..

I still think the starting linebackers should be WS-Sean Lee, MLB-Rolando McClain, and SS-Anthony Hitchens.

LB depth killed us last year. I like this signing , so long as we view him as a role player and not a projected started.

Really liking a few of the LBs in the draft. I'd definitely role with Hitchens, Lee, rookie draft pick, and these other guys

People are hitting the panic button hard. Relax people. The front office knew who they were going to lose via free agency long before Tuesday at 4pm. They'll sign some guys, draft some guys, then sign to fill any leftover needs.

So a rookie is going to be our featured back, seriously?

A rookie is going to pound defenses into submission, rack up the time of possession, stonewall blitzing linebackers in pass protection, catch 50 passes out of the backfield, and put up 1800 yards in the process?

Can I have some of what you are smoking.:D

It is just the mentality of getting three cheap to pay for one expensive player. That is the new mindset since the Ware thing appeared to work out.

Not a fan of signing a two-down, Bradie James-esque LB.

Durant, Carter and McClain were guys who could play all three downs. When the inevitable injury bug hits at LB, I don't want this guy in pass coverage.

But they didn't play all 3 downs. We replaced a LB with an extra DB most of the time. You just saw a variety of guys out there as the two 3rd down LBs due to injury.

Great response, Jerry. A JAG backup. Durant and Carter are miles ahead of this guy. We continue to regress on D.

Oh really.. Durant misses 16 games the last 2 seasons. Carter has been bashed more than he has been praised on this site and now everyone wants him back.

You also have to look at the value. What did we sign brinkley for compared to Durant and carter.

Depth is great when you have starters you can count on.

Right now we have Hitchens, an injured Lee and no one.

Everyone wants Carter back because we've done nothing to improve. Rather have Carter than Wilber.

we have regressed no debating that. We lost 3 LBS(maybe McClain) , Our 3rd CB , KR and ST gunners (both harris and spillman) , and the offensive MVP of the year . How are we better ?

Can we eventually be better ? yes but RIGHT NOW we aren't..

We regressed last offseason too. Boy I'd hate to have us repeated the season we had after losing Hall of Fame talent to our defense plus our sack leader of the season previous season to that.

I'm sure you were in here blowing a gasket this time last year because we were going all Oakland Raider and Washington Commander on every shiny name on the FA list.

Calm down and give the FO the benefit of the doubt. They deserve at least that lately.

IMO we haven't done anything that has made us worse. Carter is nothing great can easily be replaced. Coached might really like Hitchens as the Sam. That's what Carter was and Marinelli doesn't value the Sam. Just like he doesn't value the 1 tech. Not going to pay 5 a year for a Sam.

Can you just calm down about how we haven't improved. Let's wait until after the draft to see how we have improved.

Has any of the top teams "iimproved" what has new England, green bay, San fran, denver, done. We were right there with those guys last year.
