Doesn't he share same Agent as Gregory? Wonder how much that has to do with this release.

Why wont they plug the guy in at LG? Give us some time to find his replacement. Now we have a need at G.

Coaching staff hated this guy. Cap Boy and Paternity Boy remain incompetents though
I personally know someone in the loop that flat out says Collins is lazy. Add that to his overall vibe, suspensions, etcs,... he was not coming back. BUT, Im assuming this release is a post june 1 where you save like 11 million. Can someone explain why that is the case? That you cant release him today and save that money. Is it due to not wanting teams to have incentives to release guys to save cap money right when teams are signing free agents?

They are cutting away a lot of fat from the roster.

Gregory, Cooper and Collins were high paid but inconsistent in their performance. They were up and down all season, they disappeared in some of the biggest games.

What are we freeing up all of this money for?

It's not really about freeing up the money. There's no particularly goal.

Cooper was traded because the Joneses valued Gallup more at this point. With Lamb as the No. 1 and Gallup paid to be the No. 2, paying Cooper No. 1 money was not good value, especially since he didn't play up to that level.

Lawrence was extended to lower the amount he was being paid because he also hasn't played up to his salary level, but it also was done to retain Gregory, which failed.

Collins is being released because the Joneses feel they can get at least similar play from Steele, who is making much less. I would have preferred we move Collins to guard, but he would have been an expensive guard.

Now, the Cowboys have to use some of that money to meet the cap thresholds, but what we can expect is for them to shop bargains to fill any starter/backup roles and possibly extend a few players like Diggs and Lamb.

And not nearly as effective as LC.
PFF
LC 82
TS 64.5
That’s a big difference. Not to mention that ZM often has to help out TS taking away from his own responsibilities.

Im not debating who is better... just stating a fact. Collins was a joke and the team got sick of his crap. His suspension was one of the strangest things Ive ever heard. What a moron.
