I see Price/Collins combo as a solid 2nd unit at DT. IMO David Irving is the starting 3Tech, leaving a starting 1Tech as a need.
Glad you brought that up. Great point you made. If you notice,we always value "position depth and flex." Problem has been we have the depth but no true top notch quality starters at the 1 tech etc. When we focus on a true stud that can dominate at that spot we will be good...until that happens we will keep signing these so called "depth" guys and never really address the lack of quality starters. Its a failed philosophy.

The compilation of stats would indicate to any rational fan that the Cowboys were not a good run D last year. They were mediocre.

Middle of the pack in yards per carry, 21st in Football Outsidrers advanced run D analysis, etc.

Mediocre does not equal terrible as the initial post I responded to characterized it. And frankly, if you've got an offense that controls the game, those rankings can still spell success. Would it be nice if we are stronger up the middle? Sure. But this isn't a team that can't stop the run. A better claim is that Sean Lee's absence weakens the D more than it should.

YPC is a funny stat. The 31st team overall played in the Superbowl.

He had 8 tackles in eight games for us.
yup...might be a good player, but its nothin more than a camp body until he proves otherwise. If we underwhelm in free agency,it will be a long year back to back.

They couldn’t stop the run in key situations where they need to.

That’s just reality.

Philly isn't afraid to be bold and aggressive..and almost every team in our division has went all in making deals to improve their roster. Either JJ knows something none of us know..or we will doing nothing at all in free agency.

It was hard to watch down the stretch. When we needed stops the most,we couldn't. We simply didn't have the horses up front.

We are at least 5 years away from sniffing a SB appearance and I'm being totally honest. We are so far away seemingly. UNLESS we drastically change the way we think in free agency,it is what it is.

Not sure why anyone would think this means we wouldn’t still draft a good DT high unless you are saying that Price is the equal of high round talent.

JJ and Stephen likely overrate the roster. There is no doubt in my mind they believe they are a few tweaks in the draft away from having one of the best rosters in football.

They are too comfortable and that leads to complacency.

Have you met our FO and defensive coordinator?

Watch Spagnola come out and say that this is the Cowboys signing players - they like their guys. Signing both Lawrence and Price is what they could afford and " hey, you all wanted them to do something. And they have".
Like we are all stupid or something.
If they stay with Collins and Price at 1-tech this year, I ****** give up ! If its to be a bottem of the rotation piece, well, we will see.
Unfortunately I have no confidence at all, but I am willing to wait till after the draft before bashing their efforts.
It makes me nervous as hell tho !

People are already using this excuse. That we are active in FA. Signing our own guys.

It’s clearly disingenuous and they know it but don’t care.

Stats like that are actually a hell of a lot better than blowhard speculation. Stats are limiting but not a limiting as baseless claims.

Stats = objective

Blowhard speculation = "I can say whatever I want and act like it is true"

Stats can be taken out of context, especially by people who don’t watch every game...
