You still draft one legit CB prospect early: (a) Newman at 30 and a contract coming up deserves careful thought, and (b) if A.Jones winds up on the squad and doesn't live up to expectations you have at least a worse situation than last year, with Jock-o and Parakeet long gone.

Perhaps Ball and Oglesby mean something here, but they have no PT to give me that level of confidence.

I'd prefer they not go after A.Jones, but it's J.Jones' money and rep on the line, not mine. If it's incentive based and only costs one or two low-level picks, I'll find a way to deal with it.

I'm curious to see the outcry either way, and especially the DMac situation during the draft; to me, there's no 'guarantee' that MacFadden will be a Cowboy. There's going to be a couple of meltdowns on the Zone no matter what happens.

I think it is pretty much a given that Pac Man is going to be in Dallas. There is to much smoke for there not to be a fire. He is exactly the kind of player JJ wants. Playmaker at a cheap price. SO just brace yourselves for Pac Man he is going to be a Cowboy.

I find this runor quite believable. Our Jones quota is down by 2 (Julius, Nate).

It stands to reason we would trade for Pacman.

Oh, and this all but finalizes Felix with pick #22 ...

My guess is that we'd still pick a corner at 22. If we pick a RB at 22 is most certainly won't be Felix Jones.

Absurdity! That, sir, would not fulfill our players named "Jones" quota.

why do we have to get a cb in round 1 to "make sure" he can step right in to play nickelback assuming pacman got in trouble again?

With all the three-wide/spread formations in today's game, a team's nickel corner is relied upon as much as most starters. Of course, should one of your top-3 corners get nicked up (again), good teams really need to go four deep at this position to remain competitive. Think Nate Jones. <cringe> Now picture Evan Oglesby as his replacement...

No amount of talent is worth seeing an integral part of your team burn you due to being a knucklehead. Why else would the Titans be letting one of the premier talents at his position go for peanuts?

Caveat Emptor.

Aren't there other teams interested in him? If there are, I'm surprised that TEN would be willing to settle for a mere low 6th-rounder or a 7th.

Cowboys, Titans talking Pacman trade

Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips

A source confirmed to Calvin Watkins that the Cowboys are discussing a trade with the Tennessee Titans that would grant Pacman Jones his wish of coming to Dallas.

Nothing is imminent. The Cowboys and Titans have discussed a late-round pick as the compensation.

More to come as this story develops.

If...this rumor is true, I wonder just when we'll hear more about it? As has been stated here by many posters, Pacman certainly has both pros and cons, no doubt about that. If there is truth to the rumor, then I imagine Jerry Jones will want to have it finalized as soon as possible so he can factor in Pacman's being a Cowboy, and how it will impact our draft picks next month.

:starspin I've been wondering the same thing myself in terms of what the Titan's would receive from us for him. I would think - that they would want/expect to get something higher than a 6th or 7th rounder though.

IMO, a big mistake would be to let P Jones influence our draft, whether we sign him or not.

The reason? You don't know if you can count on him.

We should draft a CB high regardless. And I'm glad to see that at Valley Ranch we have plans to bring in all the top CBs in this Draft class.

If Jones works out - great. But you need to draft a CB you can depend upon. The reason the Titans are looking to deal Pacman is because they CAN'T depend on him.

Please dont put this guy on our team. We have a great team, A great group of guys. Please dont make us root for this guy.

The crowds at the stadium have been great the last 3 years because it is a team worth rooting for, please dont ruin that with this guy.

Well, except for the crowd in attendance 1/13/08. Talk about a tomb-like setting.:bang2:

But think of it this way:

One more screw up and he's most likely out of the NFL for good.

And what are the chances of him screwing up in the next couple of years? You got to say it's at least 50% from his history. If you think 50% odds are too high, you've got to admit the odds are atleast not trivial. They are significant enough.

IMO, that's definitely NOT worth a Round 1 - 4 draft pick. Maybe Round 5 at best. But that's just my opinion, of course.

:starspin I agree with you, we "shouldn't" let Pacman influence our drafting, however, whether or not Jerry Jones sees it that same way "may" be something different. Personally, Pacman is a risk no matter what abilities he may bring to the table, and I hope that we do not allow him being a Cowboy impact our draft picks. While he may have the physical skills to help us out, I'm not convinced that he still won't end up in some kind of trouble, and that's why I hope that our draft picks will not be influenced by him on draft day.
