Until, like you said, your starting QB goes down. At that point, 5 million is a ******* bargain.
Far and away worth the risk. The window closes when you start having to pay your franchise players. When Dak gets his payday, our chance of winning the Super Bowl drops.

You don't sit a $24 million quarterback. You move him if you don't want him. $5 million is $5 million. I'm not sure why it's so difficult for you.
It's certainly not difficult for me. You're going to pay him $19 million whether he's here or he's not here. So we're just talking about the $5 million. If that's the difference between having a 2015 Dallas Cowboys team and a 2016 Dallas Cowboys team, I'll take the latter.

about free, he cant handle a outside speed rush, the coaches no this, yet dont help, like with the RB stay in and cover free's right, if the guy
gets by him.
There is no point in the RB going out for possible pass, that the QB wont be able to throw anyway.
And today with sanchez in first game, they needed to help pass protection and they didnt.

You severely overvalue the backup quarterback.

Not at all. If there was a way to save Tony Romo's entire 2017 salary, then I'm all for letting him go. That's just not the case. We have Dak Prescott on a fourth round rookie contract which costs practically nothing and the salary cap is going to bump up a good deal this year. The salary cap hit will not be nearly as bad keeping Romo.

You have to get something for Romo in a trade, I would do everything in my power not to release him.

A second in 2017 and a conditional pick in '18 would be enough.

Well and what if the def piece is a thornton, and then Dak gets hurt ??
What if Dak regresses or was a 1 year wonder?
Keeping tony 1 more year is the smartest move.
What if Dak doesn't get hurt? Odds are Dak will not be out for the season next year
What if Dak regresses or was a 1 year wonder? What leads you to believe that will happen? He may regress, but he's unlikely to suddenly be bad. Even then, Romo is too old for us to just go back to him for the foreseeable future. You ride out Dak at this point.

If those are your concerns, I'm more confident than ever we can move Romo.

And someone will absolutely, positively take him. You will probably get a defensive piece for him. The idea of him just sitting on the bench is infuriating.

Yeah but it depends on Romo. He could play hardball and demand to be released.

Do Romo's recent actions indicate he would do that to the team? My impression is that he wants to do what's best for Dallas and himself. If the Cowboys can find a viable trade partner, Romo will go.

You're assuming Tony wants to stay here

any chance romo stays tho?
If Romo is still here, no one had anything to offer in return for a ready to go starting quarterback (albeit with injury issues). It would be a major failure for the Cowboys if Romo were still here.

We took our foot off the gas pedal. Mostly because our head coach is a scared, spineless, weak willed Sally. I literally can't stand the sight of him on the sidelines.

Hopefully we can flip the switch two weeks from now. Some teams have, some haven't.

As an aside, Tony Romo proved he is infinitely more talented than Prescott. The offense struggled with the fraudulent starter, hummed with Romo, then went right back to struggling when a similar lesser player was put in.

If the Cowboys do lose in the divisional round you'll be left to wonder not only what if we had a man as a head coach who kept his foot on the throttle but also what if we had started our best QB? Would it have been different? It might be impossible to answer definitively but those feelings alone should cause you to develop an intense hatred for Dak Prescott.

If you truly are a Cowboys fan.

Other than that, Go Cowboys.

Free didn't care to play his A game and was against a great pass rusher today. IMO Garrett should have sit him when it was obvious he wasn't interested.
