I mean this was obvious from the beginning. If you didn't want him back, why deny the Bears request to interview him?

Clearly Jerry wanted him back but on his terms and when McCarthy balked, Jerry was left holding the flaming bag of poo. Jerry's arrogance and stubbornness, again, blew up in his face.
I wish that bag of poo blew up in his face!!

Why would our Part Time GM and his unqualified, cheapskate, spawn, EVER do anything proactive! At least Al Davis was a legitimate "football guy" at one time, before the dementia set in. Once Jerry rode Jimmy out of town, it's been decades of misery. There was a glimmer of hope with the Parcells hiring. But Jerry being Jerry, could not keep his stupid ego in check for the greater good of the team. I have been a die hard Cowboy fan since 1966, and we have experienced many lows over the years. THIS current clown show is by far the worst. Jerry has taken a once proud and respected franchise and turned us into a laughingstock of late. Win, lose, or draw, I will always root for the Cowboys...and can only hope that there will be a day when Jerry and Co. are no longer a factor!

IF TRUE, this would be stunning and over the top, even for the Jones bunch. I guess its a glimpse into the mind of 2 arrogant and delusional guys that simply don't have a clue. I still think Jerry and Stephen had to know this was coming.
Watch Jerry end up paying even more than he would have had to pay to keep MM.

It makes perfect sense that Jerry did not have a backup plan.
I would bet good money that Jerry expected Mike to agree to his STUPID contract conditions. As per a couple weeks ago being incentive contracts.
After you refuse to do a contract last year, with everyone on one year deals. Refuse to bolster the roster and Trade away valuable Draft pieces in each subsequent draft. (4th rounders = depth pieces they dont have). Then think you have McCathy over a barrel on new contract negotiations - oh, and if you were going to try to force him to have Witten on the coaching staff as an heir apparent....
McCathy was perfectly right to walk away from this lunatic !
Good for him !
It would not surprise me if Jerry tanked FA last year in an attempt to low ball MM.

You haters are so gullible. Oh, sure, … a billion dollar corporation has no backup plan.

I’ll play along and assume there was no backup plan. Just look at all the coaches out there available right now, even many with head coaching experience.

Have your timeout and big cry. Get it out of your system.

Jerry could hire a good head coach today and round out a coaching staff in a few days.

Apparently the moves made by Mike before negotiations started, putting his house up for sale and hiring a new agent, didn't set off alarm bells for the Jones company. Bravo to big Mike. I hope he mooned Jerry as he drove away from Frisco.
Where is @rambo2 to tell us that Jerry and Stephen clearly know what they are doing.

They don’t. Just like they didn’t have a backup plan when they had to trade for Amari.

Still shocks me that people defend these idiots
Actually quite surprising, isn't it? Even calling others haters when they point out the obvious.

There never has been such a strong argument against someone within the Cowboys organization as against our owner / wanna be GM. I mean he's showing it every single day with either a decision he's making (or not making) or what he says to the media.

And yet some people credit him with some competence. Astonishing.

They still think everyone is dying to be a part of this team. No Jerry, you mostly attract bottom of the barrel guys with no other offers.

And he has to offer more money than other legit organizations that are actually trying to win.
