Cowboys working out Austin Davis (on Wednesday)

The article in OP says Wednesday. DC.com says Monday which makes no sense.

It'd better be tomorrow, otherwise the Vikes will probably scoop him up. I think the Vikes would definitely be more appealing to him. If they've already contacted his agent, which is a good possibility, he may go there first.....

The Vikings are set to re-sign quarterback Brad Sorensen, a source said Tuesday night.

Will the workout here even matter with Minnesota's newly developed desperation?

I think I just read it too fast on DC.com. Rob Phillips wrote he was scheduled for a workout and then said he was released Monday. He never mentioned that it was scheduled for Wednesday, but it is according to other sources.

"In search of quarterback depth, the Cowboys are expected to hold a scheduled workout with free agent quarterback Austin Davis, who was released by the Cleveland Browns on Monday. "

I think they just want a vet, and it shows lack of confidence in showers mainly, but maybe also Dak.

Why would they lack confidence in Dak?
Jerry likes vets, and they havent seen dak play in a real game yet.
They could be worried that if he stinks it up, they need a vet to go to.
If they dont have a vet, then the only choice is stay with dak or go to showers.
They obviously want another option.

Pretty sure it has to do with the backup behind Dak, not him per say.

Interestingly enough, if Dak's first 3 starts were to look like Austin Davis's first starts... Cowboys fans would be calling for Romo's release and the Dak era to begin.

Less than two years later, and Davis has suffered the ultimate QB indignity... being released by the Browns.

not really. here's a shot from the former Cleveland QB reunion this last summer.

I disagree with Fisher. I like Murray, but it doesn't speak highly of him that he's the odd man out for quarterback collector Andy Reid, and to my knowledge, he's never set foot on the field in a real NFL game.

He'd be losing his roster spot to a guy in Nick Foles that the Cwoboys didn't think much of at all.

I don't think it says anything at all about Dak. I feel kind of bad for Showers who will likely lose his roster spot if Romo isn't put on IR.
