I don't know who is available but it would take me about 30 seconds to find a QB who can produce what Dak does.

I'm fine with 17 mill but he said he doesn't want Tom Brady money which makes me think that he believes he's worth a Kirk Cousins / Alex Smith contract.
Let some other team be the fool with that contract.
Then if our game is not throwing then don't pay the QB a ton of money.
I am inclined to let Dak play for his contract. With the Linehan albatross gone and Amari there he should have no excuses. I believe he will earn a big contract but make him earn it.
22 TD's passing TD's?
You really think I couldn't find a QB who could do that if I had a list in front of me?
There are plenty of guys that can run the Dak game plan of giving Zeke the ball and not screwing it up with mistakes.
If you are going to give him 27m at this point you might as well wait one more year let him play out his deal and then try to sign him. The franchise Tag for QB's in 2019 is going to be approx 24m which is a small increase over 2018, and it won't be much higher in 2020 when we can tag him if we can't reach a deal. If Dak plays lights out this year then signing him to a 30m+ deal after the season won't and shouldn't be such a big deal, (and if we can't tag him), and he doesn't play well then we may have saved ourselves alot of money by not signing him to the type of deal you suggest he might get now.

Alex Smith got 94 Million over 4 years, 27MM on signing and 71MM guaranteed. Dak would get offers and they would be sizable.
Keep getting hung up on just the passing TD total if it makes you feel better. And ignore everything else he does. Like the rushing threat and the game winning drives.
I mean sure. The nfl draft is littered with QB’s that play their best in the 4th quarter of close games.......
As a matter of fact. Pull up the accomplishments of most QB’s that are drafted anywhere past the 10th spot in the draft and see what their success rates are. How many accomplish anything in the league.....
And then tell me again how you can snap your fingers and find a replacement who is just as good with ease.
It’s a joke.
Paying a good QB like he's a great one - just because he's the best one you have - isn't likely to get you over the top. Now if you think he's going to turn into a great one, that's different. But you're rolling the dice, not betting on a sure thing.
Can you give examples? The last guy I can think of who came in a FA or non-top 5 draft choice and won games was Ryan Fitzpatrick. He went 10-6 for the Jets and then has 7-14 record in the three seasons since then.
Saying you can plug in a Cooper Rush or Steven McGee just isn't supported by history.
To me, Dak market is in the range of $18M-$22M a year.
People talk about the contracts of Alex Smith, Jimmy Garappolo, and Kirk Cousins.
Those are all terrible contracts. The teams who signed them to those deals not regret it. The Cowboys should not and do not want to go there.
He's not a guy who should be earning in the upper 20's.
If he signs a 4 year, $80M with $50M guaranteed, he's still young enough to get another mega deal if he wins a Super Bowl. He would get all of his $80M, then sign a $150M after that if the team is successful.
And just to add, I would extend him after this year, assuming he has a good year. He should play out his rookie deal.
He needs enough self awareness that he is not elite and cannot be paid like one.
Now ill get to this video that was taken down apparently but i found another source of the same video.
and Carter wasnt bashing Dak or anything. What he said Tom Brady isnt taking team friendly deals, and thats because NE doesnt pay big contracts plain and simple. They put extra money in incentives.
did you know Brady is making 27mil in 2019? Not very team friendly huh.
Carter then says, Dallas does have to pay Dak. Says in NE nobody is getting paid at their value.
Why would a starting QB play for 12-14mil a yr that Brady has been avg'n before 2018.
So is Dak wrong for not wanting that play for that? Hell no.
