It is some measure of success.
It certainly shows he was no failure , he just did not have the same success as in Dallas.
A single is not a failure , just not as great as a homerun.
And the funny thing is it doesn't matter. He could have been a big failure in Miami and it wouldn't take away anything he did with the Cowboys. He was responsible for building those SB teams. I don't really care about Miami but I get a kick of people who slam Jimmy for 4 years in Miami while giving Jerry a pass for 28 years of failure in Dallas.

As Jimmy Johnson said : This team is run like a Country Club and not a Football Team.
The concern from the owner down to the players seems to more about money/brand than about winning.
I am sure a few player care, but not enough of them.
There seems to be no personal pride, no swagger.
Where are the Michael Irvin leaders on this team?
The GM has cared more about his comfort level with the HC , hiring weak, unqualified HCs since Jimmy left except the big Tuna.
This Franchise has been a disaster the last 28 years, and it because Jerry is constantly pumping sunshine instead of making winning the priority.
Their is no accountability from the GM on down.
What a sad state of affairs this once proud team has fallen to.

Frankly, it's one of the toughest parts of McCarthy's job. He and DQ have been trying to change a toxic culture here where it's okay as long as Jerrys making money. Just be relevant, and you'll be paid handsomely to fail.

What I do not know is what we fans can do about it. If we stop watching, that won't make a difference. Other fans will keep the ratings high just to rip us apart. The media needs the Cowboys to be somewhat competent. Unfortunately, this is a franchise rotten to the core with culture.

In our owners mind we had already won the SB with the hype surrounding this team.

That’s all he’s really interested in . Sure he’d like more success on the field but not if it means he has to change his ways .

You never get tired of repeating the same thing? It's not boring?

Frankly, it's all I know, and I will always be a fan of this team. I can't change that. It's not in me to do so. I just have to accept that this team will give me some joy when we win, but be ready for us to lose. Besides, my suit looks great with stars haha. After Jerry, Stephen will keep this going likely until his son is ready to take over.

Stephen has said in the past he is willing to hire a GM
So there is hope

He was such a distraction and his play was atrocious and childish and yet he got a $50 mil contract. \\

The Jones's have no clue what they're doing so why even bother watching the crap they throw together and try to sell us?
I run an independent optometry office, and I buy all the glasses we sell in both offices. A rep called and told me he'd send me some frames, and if I don't like them (or sell them) I could send them back - like a consignment kind of deal. One of them was an old brand, Holston, and the others were called Clear Eye Views. I looked it up, and yup, it's Jaylon's brand. He actually has Clearvision, a reputable company, distributing his stuff now. I SENT THEM BACK IMMEDIATELY. I've never hated a Cowboy player as much as that dude.

There were many reason why Jimmy could not repeat it in Miami.
He did have have all the draft picks from the H. Walker trade being the biggest one.
All my other points still stand.
Eye for talent
Eye for the vision of the future
Accountability.

Frankly, Jimmy and Jerry are like a band that got so big that they broke up, and neither were able to match anywhere near what they had together. Together, they made beautiful football music. Apart, they couldn't even play the triangle. Unfortunately, Jerry in particular is so egotistical that he can't realise just how pathetic his music is now.

I honestly feel bad for some of the posters........too young to remember the Jimmy Johnson era and the Triplets and the great OL that was mean. I feel bad for the youngsters, I really do.

Speaking for myself as one of the youngsters on this forum. I'm used to it by now. I'm too deep to change, and it wouldn't feel right at all to change. So, that won't happen. Unfortunately, I just have to accept that this is probably as good as it's going to get while Jerry is in charge. So, I am having to learn that I can't get too excited or too down because it's just how the Cowboys are now. It's not the proud franchise it once was. When the Cowboys are eliminated, I usually observe the playoffs hoping that teams won't pass us. But what difference is it? The 49ers probably will. The Pats and Steelers already did. The Chiefs likey will at some point. It's not made a difference to Jerry.

You , me and all us oldtimers i suppose...

The funny thing is, I grew up in a family of Eagles fans, and I chose the Cowboys. And now I cannot and will not leave. The Cowboys are so engrained in me that no other NFL team fits me at all. The only other team that comes close is the Broncos, and even then it's not as good a fit as the Cowboys.

Stop going to games. Dump the season tickets.

The only possible way Jerry changes is if/when the valuation of the team starts declining. Or when he dies. In which case, our best hope is that the Jones kids decide they'd rather split 8 billion than keep running the team.

It really is insanity to think anything will change. I know football is just a game. And the Dallas Cowboys are just a team. But we fans have a connection to it. We vicariously compete through them. Jerry has made us all losers the last 28 years. That's what stings. And we have no recourse to change anything, except to kick our favorite team to the curb. And that hurts more than even the losing.

Thanks Jerry.
