As Jimmy Johnson said : This team is run like a Country Club and not a Football Team.
The concern from the owner down to the players seems to more about money/brand than about winning.
I am sure a few player care, but not enough of them.
There seems to be no personal pride, no swagger.
Where are the Michael Irvin leaders on this team?
The GM has cared more about his comfort level with the HC , hiring weak, unqualified HCs since Jimmy left except the big Tuna.
This Franchise has been a disaster the last 28 years, and it because Jerry is constantly pumping sunshine instead of making winning the priority.
Their is no accountability from the GM on down.
What a sad state of affairs this once proud team has fallen to.

Salary cap.

Jimmy couldn't repeat it in Miami.
And I'll say it again. He was there 4 years and made the playoffs in 3 of them. Miami was Marino's team. Jimmy didn't have the power he had with Dallas. He needed to move on from him and rebuild. But I'll take Jimmy's 4 years at Miami to Jerry's 28 in Dallas any day.

There were many reason why Jimmy could not repeat it in Miami.
He did have have all the draft picks from the H. Walker trade being the biggest one.
All my other points still stand.
Eye for talent
Eye for the vision of the future
Accountability.
Ok Jimmy had those and it still didn't work. You're making my point.

There's no such thing as a good GM.

I'm sorry I thought it was about winning Super Bowls. Or in Jerry's case, going to championship games.

Why is simply making the playoffs some barometer of success now?

He did not have the Walker draft picks, which he had the foresight to trade for in Dallas.
I am not making your point in anyway.
If you feel that a GM does not matter, there is no reason to continue this discussion.
If you notice, no one here is defending you ill advised position.
I would think you would take notice of that.

It is some measure of success.
It certainly shows he was no failure , he just did not have the same success as in Dallas.
A single is not a failure , just not as great as a homerun.

Yes you are lol.

Jimmy was very good at all those things you mentioned, and it still failed in Miami. Him not having the Walker picks is my point about luck lol. It's not like he drafted Walker with a design to trade him.

There are GMs and there are bad GMs. Good ones get that label because they get lucky. Is Brett Veach a terrific GM? No, he just lucked into Mahomes.

Ok then by that standard the Cowboys have been a success in the last 5 years, and we shouldn't be trying to move on.
