Cutting Dez is a Huge Mistake

Agreed. Having an average Defense doesn't help much either.

Our defense ranked higher than our offense last season. We may have more potential defensively than offensively especially if our top pick goes on defense. Our passing game has got to improve. Romo’s big numbers kept our offense in the top 8 most years. We were 14th last year, while our defense was in the top 10.

I've been reading a lot of articles on dez. I felt then anecdotal feel it was the best thing to cut ties n move on. The organizational approach as a whole is better then it used to be.

If we don't draft a LB who can contribute right away, we are going to have a long (and unproductive) season. I agree about the passing game. Dak's lack of consistency really hurts us here. Hopefully, he can be more effective this season. Still, I can't see how losing Dez is going to make this team any better here.

Says the dude with a Dez avatar. I doubt that... and Dez is no Anquan who ran precise routes, won a Super Bowl.
Love how all these Route Experts popped up out of nowhere

They were in their holes for the first 5 years just waiting to pounce I guess

You can't talk about Ware and Dez while ignoring the salary cap. Check that, you can but it's not a valid argument. Their releases weren't simply "we'll be better without them" and that's that. It comes down to cost vs benefit.

In a non-capped world these scenarios probably play out differently. But ignoring the implications of it and going "See? I told you!" isn't proving anything to anyone. It's more like stating the obvious.
Your point is moot when we don't even spend the money we do have

When we roll over 10m it says "We're cool" there is no one else we want to add to out team to improve

Dez’s ability to catch fades and jump balls made him a huge redzone threat. What he brought in that area can’t be replaced. Dak wasn’t consistently able to put the ball where Dez could make a play. Romo discussed during a telecast where Dez likes the ball. The Cowboys are a worse team without Dez. Can’t see how anyone could think not having him on the team makes the Cowboys better. Of Dak’s 44 TD passes the past two seasons Dez caught 14 of them.

That remains to be seen, so many people make the mistake (including the OP) of making a statement like that based off of his prior success, when in reality you have to judge or predict what he will contribute going forward.

Unless we have a great draft and add a rookie receiver who can make a significant impact as a rookie and these other receivers step up we’re going to have a difficult time bettering 9 wins in 2018. I’m paper we currently look like a 7-9 to 8-8 team.

I saw an interview with I believe it was Drew Pearson. He said Dez after suffering some knee and foot injuries he no longer is running on the balls of his feet like he used to. He is running flat footed and you can't go in and out of your breaks as smooth and you telegraph your next move to the DB. He is able to read quicker. But his attitude was as much of a problem as his declining play.

The OP was 100% correct

The team is much worse today than it was last week

You could really see that in this video

As I stated. unless the Cowboys make a move with the Dez dollars (i.e. a trade for Earl Thomas or a player of a similar ilk), most knowledgeable football fans will tell you that Alan Hurns alone is not an upgrade on Dez. If we draft a WR in the 1st round because of the Dez cut, then we are taking away resources that could be spent on another position of need.

As big a Romo fan that I was, I think that Dez might end up being a worse cut, if we are unable to find a LB who can contribute at a high level because we blow pick 19 on Sutton to try and teach him to be the next Dez. That would be a crying shame.

Sutton could end up being something special, but as an NFL Receiver he is a project at best (and had an even less evolved route tree and was a less talented route runner than Dez coming out of college).

without seeing Hurns and Thompson on the field, how can you make that statement? we could be better and we still haven't had the draft yet.

Are you stating that Hurns and Thompson are better receivers than Dez? Are you saying that you want to spend a premium pick on a WR instead of a LB (where we have 1.75 starters for 3 positions and 1 injury away from .75 starter for 3 positions)? If we can't get a decent LB who can contribute (in a fairly weak LB class) because we have to use a 1st or 2nd on a WR, then this Defense will be a joke and cutting Dez will be the punchline.

Monopoly money is still monopoly money. Moving around money to pay players isn't the same as making/earning money. Everyone is limited by the same rules and same overall cap limit. Your cap expertise is tantamount to owning lots of little green and red houses and hotels on a boring board game. When you're ready to make 9 figure deals selling Coltan to the chinese, Koreans or department of defense, send me your resume for consideration.

1. can you say they are not without ever seeing them take the field for us?
2. define premium pick....1st, 2nd, 3rd?
3. our LB's are not as weak as you think, and I'll agree we still need to draft one.
